The Difference You Will Make:
We’re seeking a Senior Corporate & Policy Communications Manager in Mexico City, who will be responsible for leading proactive and reactive communications plans to advance our policy and regulatory priorities across Mexico to showcase the benefits of home-sharing and traveling on Airbnb. The ideal candidate is a strategic and creative communications professional with a proven track record of developing and executing corporate and policy communications initiatives.
In this role, you’ll thrive under pressure and tight deadlines, confidently explaining complex issues in clear, straightforward terms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Business, Policy, and Legal—to uphold the company’s position with key stakeholders. Your work will support the company’s voice across topics such as corporate reputation, government regulations, taxes, and legal matters.
This full-time role will be based in Mexico City, Mexico. The role will report to the Mexico Communications Lead and form part of the broader Latam Communications team.
A Typical Day:
- Develop a clear and thorough Policy and Corporate communications plan with thoughtful cadence for the market.
- Provide guidance and support to the Mexico Policy Team and to the Business on all corporate and policy communications matters.
- Identify proactive press opportunities in support of legislative and policy priorities (i.e. moving a bill forward, demonstrating the impact of a tax agreement, outlining our policy positions)
- Manage all aspects of reactive press requests related to Corporate and Policy Comms matters and ensure utilization of all tools available (data, industry research, host stories, etc.) to defend Airbnb’s community and brand
- Develop written materials (story pitches, messaging guidelines, Q&As, briefs, presentations, speeches, reports, etc.) and manage approval process with stakeholders
- Help prepare Airbnb spokespeople (Campaign Managers, Country Managers, Airbnb Executives, etc.) for public speaking engagements, media interviews, etc.
- Develop and manage relationships with key reporters in the market
- Ability to talk to reporters off the record and also serve as a spokesperson for policy and corporate comms matters
- Identify proactive press opportunities and drive national/global announcements, in support of policy and corporate communications goals.
- Identify and drive executive communications opportunities
- Ability to oversee creative ideation and execution Policy Communications campaigns and act as Program Manager
- Develop and manage individual project budget trackers
- Manage key external agency partners and third party brands, including drafting scopes of works, reviewing creative proposals, term sheets and executing contracts.
- Work effectively within a high-performing international team with evolving priorities and rapidly changing timelines.
- Occasionally, support local operations for the Consumer & Entertainment team in Mexico
Your Expertise:
- Expert knowledge of Mexico’s media environment and political landscape including public policy matters - more specifically relating to traveling, housing, technology, and the short term rental industry.
- Experience working in Public Affairs and Corporate Communications campaigns for Mexican Companies
- Experience in Crisis Communications planning and management
- Experience handling PR agencies
- (Optional) Experience working in Political Campaigns
- Experience working on projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 8+ years of Communications/Public Relations experience, either working in an agency or in-house
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Spanish is a must.
- Proven-track record of building and activating effective corporate and policy communications initiatives inside a private company or PR agency.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional leads in a matrix organization.
- Excellent writing skills with samples to share.

Your Location:
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant will need to be based in Mexico City to be able to conduct their work.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
