Primary Purpose

This role is responsible to create resilient and scalable systems in a hybrid cloud environment. This person will collaborate closely with development teams and technical groups to design, plan, and implement solutions that help achieve global process and automation goals. Given strategic objectives, this role will independently deliver solutions that adhere to industry best practices and company standards.

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Chicago, IL, and Quincy, MA.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with implementation teams to automate and ensure best practices on new infrastructure deployments
  • Coordinate with architecture group to design, implement, maintain, and own cross-team tools and solutions
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement adaptable CI/CD pipelines from existing workflows
  • Develop technical tools and solutions that help build, deploy, and automate
  • Contribute to infrastructure as code projects, review submissions from development and operations teams
  • Deliver complete solutions and systems: consistent, optimized, resilient, documented, secure
  • Is the most experienced software engineer on the team
  • Responsible for Systems design and architecture
  • As required, responsible for delivery of project management role for smaller projects from inception to completion including all project artifacts, executive status reports, etc
  • Provides constulting/direction to solve business problems or needs arising form everyday events or unexpected/catastrophic events. This includes recognizing the problem, resources needed for proper completion, including executive management updates as required
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of software development experience
  • Experience building infrastructure as code with configuration management suites, preferably salt stack
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle concepts
  • Experience developing on CD/CI automation platforms such as Jenkins
  • Knowledgeable in programming concepts and languages such as Python or Java
  • Experience scripting and automating with languages such as Bash-Experience developing with version control systems (e.g. git)
  • Experience working in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Experience with docker
  • Experience in Agile developement
  • Ability to design foundational technologies through software architecture
  • Ability to manager own work time and priorities in accordance with agreesive timelines and budgets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Thorough understanding of the business strategy, operations, markets and key stakeholders
  • Possess an innate desire to produce quality work. Have the desire and ability to trace issues to their source - even when those issues lie outside the boundaries of the code
  • Have the ability to design complex software architecture and create technical design specifications
  • Can significantly affect a project as the architectural design must be solid
  • Assigned features that are highly complex and can significantly affect sales and basket
  • Makes sound business decisions in regards to how technologies will be implemented
  • Makes recommendations to management and is involved in the decision making process
  • Resolves work related issues and provides solutions on development issues for less experienced software engineers

Salary Range: $151,200 - $226,800
