The Partner Engineering Manager – Payment Methods role sits at the core of Adyen’s payments platform, ensuring our integrations with schemes and payment partners are reliable, scalable, and continuously optimized. This role proactively monitors flows like authorizations and clearing, driving improvements across systems and processes. Rather than reacting to issues, Partner Engineers prevent them—using data, tools, and product insights to detect and resolve inefficiencies early.

The ideal candidate thrives in technical complexity, drives strategic collaborations, and identifies opportunities to improve payment performance at scale. They excel at translating product roadmaps into actionable requirements, leading high-impact conversations with partners, and ensuring Adyen continues to deliver a world-class payment experience to merchants around the globe.

What you’ll do

  • Own the technical relationships with Adyen’s Payment Methods partners, including global networks like Visa and Mastercard, as well as local payment methods.
  • Drive end-to-end conversion improvements and enhance existing integrations by leveraging partners' system and network capabilities.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for our card acquiring rails, with a deep understanding of how specifications impact merchant processing.
  • Identify opportunities to develop tools and processes that enable scalable, efficient support for our acquiring operations.

Who you are

  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience at a tech or payments company, with a focus on managing Visa and Mastercard systems—preferably from an acquiring perspective.
  • You’re able to structure, deliver, and communicate clear project plans across cross-functional teams that include analysts and software engineers.
  • You have a strong understanding of API integrations, payment systems, and technical solutions.
  • You’re operationally excellent and driven to improve existing processes, with a hands-on mindset and attention to detail.
  • You’re skilled at managing external stakeholders and influencing partners to align with Adyen’s roadmap and long-term objectives.

Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds and cultures is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. Our business and technical challenges are unique, and we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them - voices like yours. No matter who you are or where you’re from, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen.
