What you should know about the role
Reporting to the Chief Lending Officer, the Vice President of Consumer Lending is the strategic leader for Advia's consumer lending area. This role has responsibility for line of business strategy and operations including underwriting, loan processing, servicing, as well as product, portfolio, and system administration. This role will collaborate with strategic partners inside and outside of the credit union to carry out the credit union's core values of acting with integrity, driving progress, building and strengthening relationships, and keeping people at the core.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures that consumer loan policies, procedures, services, products, delivery channels and documentation are up to date with current regulations, meeting internal control requirements, and living out the credit union's core values and mission. This includes collaborating with Advia's Training Department, to ensure staff training and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Researches and evaluates feasibility of new lending products. Develops and implements plans for expansion of lending programs. Keeps abreast of changes in the industry and changing trends in lending and react to changes in a way that maintains competitiveness in product design, technology, and delivery channels. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of competitors' rates, terms, products and other marketplace trends relating to consumer lending. Provides timely feedback that allows the Credit Union to be proactive competitively.
- Provides leadership, coaching and development to direct and indirect reports, creating and maintaining a culture of collaboration, trust, teamwork, communication, and forward thinking in the best interest of the credit union's membership and the team members. Leads next level Managers to maximize productivity, efficiency, and supports in coaching/development of our employees to include setting goals to be in alignment with our strategic goals, monitoring performance, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraises performance of the leaders overseen and provides recommendations for disciplinary action, promotion and termination, as appropriate.
- Approves and denies loans within the appropriate policy guidelines and authority.
- Leads the development of the Consumer Loan Department's strategic plans to align with the credit union's business plan. Recommends and ensures the implementation of target goals for the department. Recommends and monitors department's annual budget.
- Analyzes and completes regularly scheduled loan reports. Develops procedures and reporting tools for effective information to flow through department and impacted individuals. Information should allow for optimizing performance of consumer loan portfolio and service delivery goals. Monitors and analyzes economic conditions affecting the consumer loan department and loan portfolio performance and recommend appropriate action.
- In conjunction with Internal Audit, supports audit of loan files to ensure loan quality and adherence to consumer lending policies. Interacts with state and federal regulators in the examination of consumer lending programs and activities. Resolves and responds to any member complaints related to the consumer lending area.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.

Requirements
Experience
10 years to 15 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A college degree.
Interpersonal Skills
The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.
Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled private office with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Competent in advanced math skills; calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs. Must be able to spell accurately and possess computer skills to develop spreadsheets and run accounting software. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
