The Vice President of Commercial Services at Advia Credit Union is a strategic leader accountable for advancing Advia's mission to provide personalized financial solutions and exceptional member service. This role drives Commercial Services including lending, treasury management, and product innovation. The VP will grow the Commercial portfolio while maintaining strong asset quality, increasing deposit relationships, and enhancing core relationships. This position aids in efforts to meet the strategic goals of the credit union, including providing outstanding service to internal and external members as defined by living and demonstrating the core values of the credit union; Act with Integrity, Drive Progress, Build & Strengthen Relationships and Keep People at the Core.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Actively participates as a member of senior management, fostering teamwork and mutual trust.
- Collaborates with leadership to guide strategic and operational objectives, including short- and long-term planning.
- Demonstrates commitment to Advia's core values and culture.
- Takes ownership of the business line's P&L and Balance Sheet, driving productivity, efficiency, and market share.
- Develops a disciplined growth plan, identifying key drivers and infrastructure needs.
- Establishes KPIs, such as portfolio growth, credit quality, deposit acquisition, and member satisfaction, to measure success.
- Serves as an engaged and participating member of Commercial Loan Committee, Watch List Committee, and Senior Management Team.
Sales and Relationship Management
- Oversees commercial lending and treasury sales teams, ensuring strong pipeline management and commercial member acquisition.
- Manages profitability through strategic pricing of loans, fees, and deposits.
- Engages regularly with members and centers of influence to promote goodwill and resolve escalated issues.
- Partners cross-functionally with Marketing, Retail, IT, and other departmental units of Advia to aid commercial growth initiatives.
Credit Administration
- Leads collaboration with credit and lending teams to expand and monitor a sound loan portfolio.
- Ensures transparency with Executive Management, Board, and regulators.
- Demonstrates excellent credit skills and judgment in evaluating credits.
- Manages policy formation and execution, risk management, and regulatory reporting.
- Recommends and monitors loan concentration limits.
Operations Management
- Directs commercial operations including loan processing, treasury operations, and servicing functions.
- Drives operational efficiency through process optimization and technology integration.
- Monitors service delivery standards and ensure adherence to SLAs and compliance protocols.
- Leads the strategic direction for technology's role in commercial services.
Leadership and Talent Development
- Promotes a culture reflective of Advia's Core Values, professional development, and member-focused service.
- Assesses organizational structure and staffing needs to support growth.
- Recruits, hires, and develops top talent, conduct performance reviews and mentor team.
Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of commercial lending experience with leadership in sales, credit, and operations.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial lending, with strong attention to detail in credit analysis, loan structuring, and documentation.
- Understanding of compliance regulations and internal policies.
- Experience partnering with regulators and auditors.
- Motivation and passion for member and community impact.
- Proven mentoring and coaching skills.
- Proficiency with technology, including commercial and credit union systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Track record of implementing or managing commercial services technology platforms.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's preferred.
Interpersonal Skills
Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of professional diplomacy, trust and relationship. Obtaining cooperation and agreement (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a expert level of interpersonal and written communication skills are critical to the success of this position.
Other Skills
This role will require travel up to 40%.
Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must by capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions with supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
