The Infrastructure Security Administrator supports computer hardware and software systems which includes communication systems, network hardware, data storage systems, operating systems, application environments, and network authentication systems. This role protects the organizations assets from internal and external threats to ensure the highest level of availability of network resources for credit union operations. Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the administration, maintenance, and security of IT Infrastructure systems for identity and access management, this includes DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, group policy, SQL account management and data storage environments to ensure effective operations. Provides a timely response to the Information Security team to ensure quick response to security issues. Works in conjunction with Network Engineers to ensure the organizations confidentiality, integrity, and availability, manage secure remote access operations for vendors and staff. Provides essential assistance for data governance and audit activities. Aids IT Enterprise Applications and IT Support teams by providing regional network infrastructure project management and information security management expertise. Maintains the integrity of network data by using network protection strategies including backups, anti-virus/malware systems, security controls, and encryption techniques to protect credit union assets. Stays up to date on IT infrastructure and information security tools and trends to provide recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Creates and maintains network diagrams, documentation, and detailed network information on IT infrastructure security for efficient reference, easy planning and fast troubleshooting of network security issues. Completes forms and documentations that bolster the policies and procedures for compliance, security, and maintenance of IT infrastructure. Provides the necessary documentation for the IT Enterprise Applications and IT Support teams to ensure efficient department operations.
  • Spearheads network security by identifying strategies to mitigate risk to the network from internal and external exposures, administration of infrastructure security systems, following information security policies, standards, and best practices, by monitoring system, and logging issues, by following up on suspicious activity, and by staying up to date on current network security trends.
  • Installs and configures product upgrades and ongoing reinforcement of IT infrastructure security equipment including network equipment, certificate systems, access management, and other network infrastructure systems.
  • Provides network technical support and troubleshooting skills to ensure a secure, stable, and reliable IT infrastructure environment. Diagnoses, resolves, and reports network security incidences and reported discrepancies discovered through current processes and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with vendors, fellow employees, and management for network statuses, project statuses and support resolutions.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce system security policies and follow all company standards. Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.

Requirements

Experience

4 years of relevant experience and an associate's degree in information security management, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience preferred

2 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in information security management, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience preferred

Education/Certifications/Licenses

ISC2 CISSP, Microsoft SCI, Cisco CNNP Security or other relevant technical certifications are highly desirable.

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

Other Skills

  • Must have the ability to analyze and understand how the various IT equipment and software programs interrelate and interface, and the ability to identify and solve equipment and software problems.
  • Broad understanding of information security strategies, practices, and trends in relationship to IT Infrastructure management
  • A high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills necessary to relate to other people at their systems knowledge level.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work without direction from supervisor in situations where dramatic changes frequently occur. Required to operate with great latitude with independent judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and support multiple support requests.
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact and direct the efforts of various IT vendors and suppliers.
  • Requires the ability to analyze complex situations and problems and do the necessary research using multiple sources of information to arrive at innovative solutions.
  • Requires occasional after hours work to maintain and repair system components with and without short notice.

Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Must be able to travel to other branches or regions. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
