The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) guides and coordinates Human Resources activities including payroll, benefits, and HR compliance. They serve as primary resource for employees and managers throughout the organization for all Human Resources related matters. The HRBP have a solid comprehension of HR policies, procedures and solutions that help achieve people and business initiatives. In partnership with the management, the HRBP assist with data and strategy development to aid Human Resource and organizational goals. This is accomplished by providing outstanding service to both internal and external members as defined by living and demonstrating the core values of the credit union; Act with Integrity, Drive Progress, Build & Strengthen Relationships and Keep People at the Core.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and assistance to leaders, supervisors and employees navigating employee related issues in connection with policies and procedures, benefits, time and attendance, and HR compliance topics.
  • Apply knowledge and experience of employment law and policies to ensure organizational compliance and adherence in a variety of areas including but not limited to FMLA administration, FLSA oversight, and federal/state/local regulations.
  • Partner with benefits broker team and leadership to develop and deliver organizational benefits strategy. Serves as primary point of contact for all benefit related questions. Coordinates annual open enrollment, including communication, systems updates, and vendor management.
  • Facilitate open communication with managers and team members to assist with navigating leaves of absence and ADA accommodations. Partner with HR leaders to ensure these processes are equitable and accurately tracked.
  • Cross-trained to ensure continuity of payroll operations and support. Provide coverage and operational support for the HRBP Payroll Specialist as needed, executing accurate payroll processes and reporting. Collaborate with Human Resource Specialists to ensure timely and efficient completion of all payroll activities.
  • Identify themes and trends through relevant data, investigate discrepancies as needed, and follow up with feedback for HR leadership.
  • Aid Human Resource Specialists with any advanced level help desk, leader, or reporting requests.
  • Participate in a variety of cross-functional HR and organization wide projects.
  • Assists with regular reporting and dashboard maintenance in partnership with Reporting Analysts.
  • Maintains and develops professional abilities by attending educational workshop, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking best practices, participating in professional societies; and otherwise maintaining professional and technical knowledge.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.

Requirements

Experience

Three years to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

A college degree.

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

Other Skills

Must be familiar with FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, FLSA, EEOC and other federal, state employment laws.

HR help desk tickets and assist with regular reporting in partnership with organizational development/recruiting.

Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
