The Role
Adobe Research is seeking a Principal Research Scientist, with expertise in taking AI/ML Research all the way to productization, especially in AI Assistants and Agents. Expertise as evidenced by a strong record of peer-reviewed academic publications, combined with hands-on research experience in applications of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing and algorithms is desired. The candidate should have demonstrated a track record of successfully taking research projects to completion and delivered customer value.
As a research scientist at Adobe, you will be joining a dynamic team of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer systems researchers to build the future of digital experiences. You will have the opportunity to develop creative ideas suitable for academic publications, to mentor interns, and to participate in our university collaboration program. You will also work with product teams to implement those ideas as advanced features in Adobe's world-class products, thereby reaching millions of people worldwide.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and execute a universal Assistant architecture to aid creatives, communicators, and marketers with their missions.
  • Address questions of efficiency, latency, COGS, and reliability in Assistants.
  • Bring structure to a complex collection of open-source, proprietary and in-house Language Models.
  • Manage stakeholders and communicate complex technical ideas.
  • Own large projects and deliver them, while working with other researchers, product managers and engineers.
  • Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
  • Participate in development of patent applications.
  • Coordinate inter-departmental activities and research efforts.

What you'll need to succeed

  • PhD in Computer Science, EE, or an equivalent field and around 10 years of experience in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Strong peer-reviewed publication track record.
  • Be regarded as a thought leader in the research community.
  • Solid programming skills including C++, Python, Java.
  • Desire to do world-class publishable research and develop advanced features for Adobe's imaging, video, analytics, document, and enterprise products.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $192,500 -- $362,200 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
