Revenue Accountant ASC 606

This Hirestrategy client is a large bio pharmaceutical company located in the Washington DC Metro Area.

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure a successful implementation of the new Revenue Recognition standard (ASC 606). This person needs to be an experienced operator with Rev Rec implementation experience but also strong analytical, problem solving skills as well as change management background.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Design new end to end Rev Rec % of completion methodology with key steps/ accountabilities
  • Gather stats on current projects to derive a materiality recommendation on what should/should not be included in a % complete calculation
  • Establish thresholds /analytics for outliers in the new Rev Rec Process which point out areas of concern related to accurate recognition
  • Design analytics/processes to support new financial disclosures/reporting
  • Establish an automated forecasting process for projects as an input into the % complete methodology
  • Reconfirm we have the correct performance obligations identified
  • Assess, document and recommend a materiality limit for unsigned work accruals
  • Ensure end to end processes are fully documented and understood (eg. project set ups, project modifications/amendments, project close outs)
  • Design and implement scalable process and financial controls into contracting process, to include initial contract execution, modifications/amendments, and project closure/finalization that will enable Revenue Recognition

Qualifications:

  • CPA and rev rec experience in a professional services environment
  • ASC 605 and ASC 606 knowledge
  • Experience and knowledge of US GAAP to include revenue recognition (minimum of 5 years)
  • SOX design, documentation and testing experience
  • Financial analysis and ability to solve issues /find solutions
  • ERP system implementation experience required (preferably Tier 1 or Tier 2 experience)
