A midtown property management company is looking for a Senior Property Accountant to be primarily responsible for all aspects of property accounting for assigned properties. The right candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strict attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Property accounting experience with class-A office properties in excess of 1 million SF preferred
- Review and analyze general ledgers for respective properties, process journal entries, calculate monthly accruals and update supporting balance sheet account schedules
- Accurately complete accounting and financial responsibilities for assigned properties, including but not limited to, forecasting, variance analysis and compliance of the financial essentials of the tenant leases
- Review abstracted leases and experience in reading leases and pulling the information and conditions from the lease
- Calculate real estate tax and operating expense escalations
- Prepare, reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts for all financial packages for all assigned properties including journal entries for accruals, reclassifications, adjustments and financial statements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reports including variance reports
- Develop and assist Property Managers in your assigned properties with their annual operating budgets
- Assist in the resolution of tenant billing inquiries with accounts receivable and legal departments
- Assist with lender reporting compliance
- Ensure timely processing of debt service payments
- Assist with preparation of financial/workpaper support for external auditors
- Perform special assignments and other related tasks as requested

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Commercial Real Estate industry experience is required
- Experience with MRI property management software a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including advanced skills in Excel
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle a high volume of responsibilities
- Attention to detail and proactive approach to identifying and independently resolving issues
- Experience working independently as well as collaboratively; effectively managing priorities while meeting hard deadlines
