Accounting Manager

Washington, DC

This HireStrategy/Addison Group client is a Research Based organization in Washington DC looking to implement the New Revenue Recognition Standards. We are looking for a bright and energetic Senior Accounting Manager with strong technical skills and solid understanding of GAAP. The Senior Accounting Manager will interpret, present and explain complex accounting issues to management and external auditors. This is purely a Consulting Opportunity that should last anywhere from 5-8 months, and this position will report directly to our Corporate Controller.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper accounting for technical accounting areas such as stock-based compensation, goodwill, leases, loans, and debt-financing
  • Identify upcoming changes to US GAAP accounting standards that will be relevant to the client and lead the company in implementation of those standards
  • Interpret contracts and prepare technical memos addressing accounting conclusions
  • Participate in the implementation of ASC 606
  • Assist with financial audits including reconciliation, support documentation, and communication with external auditors
  • Assist with month end and year end close activities
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Interact with cross-functional teams, including Financial Planning and Analysis and Treasury

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting
  • CPA required (active or inactive status)
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, particularly in ASC 840, ASC 350 & 360, FAS 91, 409A and ASC 606
  • 5 years technical accounting and audit based experience, including Big 4 public accounting
  • Strong experience in both private and public accounting
  • Strong analytical skills and a detail orientated personality
  • Ability to problem solve, work independently and multi-task in fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional project and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
