Systems Engineer III

AAA Club Alliance is hiring for a System Engineer lll to join our team! The Systems Engineer role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by deploying, monitoring, securing, supporting, and optimizing all assigned networked software/services and underlying infrastructure. The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure smooth and reliable operation of assigned software/services and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Assist in working with executive & business line team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements/goals and to identify/resolve systems issues.
  • Participate in the design and deployment of assigned applications or services as well as enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
  • Participate in cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid in management making implementation decisions.
  • Work closely with Systems Infrastructure Architect in planning/implementation of systems solutions.
  • Delegate tasks to more junior team members.
  • Serve as mentor to more junior team members.
  • Conduct research on software and systems products to assist in justifying recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors as needed to secure system-related products and services.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and supportive relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
  • Resolve any assigned work problems, incidents, changes or project tasks within assigned SLA. Ensure all assigned tasks are appropriately updated within ITSM platform.
  • Repairs and recovers from hardware or software failures with necessary urgency. Communicates and coordinates with affected users or clients during outage through established pathways.
  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems/services; assist in development and implementation strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Perform server security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software/services, and other applications.
  • Assist in creation and maintaining of documentation as it relates to systems configurations, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing & operating systems.
  • Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
  • Provide orientation and training to end users as needed for new applications/services.
  • Acknowledge and abide by Information Security Policies.
  • Participate in PCI Compliance, including providing evidence for quarterly and yearly audits.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent in Computer Sciences, Business Administration, or related field and minimum 5 years of technical work experience.
  • At least two current certificate in systems related hardware/software and/or documented technical training in systems disciplines
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent software & hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Extensive support experience with company applications.
  • Working technical knowledge of current Operating System (Microsoft and/or Linux) deployment & support.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Expert in three or more areas: directory services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), server operating systems, email, virtualization platform(s), shared storage administration, and any Enterprise services solutions.
  • Works closely with Systems Infrastructure Architect in planning/implementation of systems solutions.
  • Delegate tasks to more junior team members.
  • Serve as mentor to more junior team members.
  • Innovative, strategic and highly connected to corporate vision & goals.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven experience in contributing to implementation of software systems, applications, and related products.
  • Proven experience with systems planning participation, security principles planning/implementation, and general software management best practices.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
