How I Found a Company That Lets Me Explore My Endless Curiosity

Our mission here at The Muse is simple: to help you find your dream job. So, there’s nothing we love more than hearing about it when you do!

Today we chatted with Christina Callis, who recently landed a job at TRIOSE, a PA-based healthcare logistics company. In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities, she loves the endless opportunities her workplace provides her, from working with new and exciting software to volunteering in the community with her TRIOSE “family.”

Read below to learn more about her story, then check out TRIOSE’s offices and see how you can land a great new gig of your own!

Tell us about yourself!

I’m a Maryland girl, born and bred, and I love everything about my home state. After starting at a smaller college in Maryland, I transferred to the University of Delaware to pursue a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems. I also worked in the catering industry as a cocktail server.

Growing up, I’d always had an interest in computers, especially seeing how far I could push software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop. I’ve always considered myself a bit of a wildcard because I can credibly claim that I have an interest in everything.

What’s your title at your new role, and what are you doing day to day?

I work in information systems support at TRIOSE, performing a variety of functions such as desktop support, creating documentation, and holding training sessions for new or unfamiliar technologies. I’m often tasked with learning the ins and outs of the many software applications we use.

What were you looking for in a job?

It was really important to me that my potential workplace authentically cared about giving back to the community (more on that later!). I’m also attracted to jobs that not only allow, but also encourage, my endless curiosity.

Finally, it was important to me that the company possessed a family-style atmosphere. I like that everyone at this organization truly cares about one another, and that was something I noticed from my first interview.

What attracted you to the company when you found it on The Muse?

I first stumbled upon a technical writing internship at TRIOSE, which ultimately led me down an even more exciting path with the company. As I began my research on The Muse, watching employee videos and reading TRIOSE’s profile, I started to fall in love with the natural charm that the company exudes. Most of all, I was impressed with the company’s Give Five program, which emphasizes giving back to the community through a partnership with Alex’s Lemonade, local volunteerism, veteran support, environmental sustainability, and ethical conduct.

Learn More About Working at TRIOSE

What’s something most people would find surprising about working at TRIOSE?

The leadership is truly dedicated to making each team member feel like a part of the TRIOSE family. Within my first two weeks of work, I got to sit down and chat with our CEO Carl “CJ” Joyner. Both CJ and our president Ira Tauber go out of their way to make everyone feel at home. Recently, our VP Tom Wengrowski even bought ice cream for everyone!

On a more individual level, I love that my boss is always looking for new ways to challenge me. He’s very good about balancing the types of projects he gives me to ensure that I’m always learning something new.

What’s one project you’re really excited about?

I’m really excited about TRIOSE’s progression into business intelligence. I get the most excited about manipulating data in PowerBI and experimenting with different visual effects. Prior to working at TRIOSE, I’d never had exposure to that type of software or its capabilities, so I find the experience of learning and working with it exhilarating and rewarding.

Is there anything you did during your application process that helped you stand out and land the job?

I designed my own resume, which helped me not only differentiate myself from other candidates, but also added credibility to my skills, namely my ability to create, design, and organize effectively.
