Testing Technician II

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Testing Technician II to join our Marine team in the Greater Chattanooga area. In this role, you'll perform hands-on technician tasks, run product tests, and support exciting projects that keep our products at the top of their game.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform supervised testing/evaluation of marine engines, props, controls, and control systems. Assist in organizing data and prepare written test reports and evaluations. Help monitor schedules to ensure testing and reports are completed on time.
  • Under guidance prepare and rig boats, engines and related equipment for testing. Assist in testing prototype parts and components from Japan.
  • Assist in performing routine repairs and maintenance on company equipment, vehicles, buildings, docks and grounds. Monitor inventory of supplies and provide a list of replenishment needs. Maintain and repair test boats, engines and servicing of facility equipment as directed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment within all areas of the buildings, grounds and docks.
  • Complete confidentiality is mandatory on testing activities, results and products.
  • Support Marketing and Sales Divisions as required by preparing boats, engines, etc. for meetings and events. Assist with event set up, operation and demonstration of product.
  • Assist with off-site testing when requested.
  • Shipping freight: Assist in the preparation, packing and possible crate building for engines and parts to be shipped out. Provide details to appropriate staff for processing shipment forms.
  • Receive freight: Receive and unload freight. Provide bill of lading to appropriate staff.
  • Provide a log of daily work results to the Administration staff on a weekly basis.

What you need to be successful:

  • High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred, especially with strong math and science skills.
  • Must have boat piloting capabilities.
  • 5+ years of experience in boat, engine, and electronics rigging, repair, and maintenance.
  • CDL is a plus!
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems encountered in testing or with equipment.
  • Basic computer skills such as Excel, Word, Adobe and Power Point.
  • Must have experience operating a forklift, trucks, tow trailers, etc.
  • Requires close attention to detail regarding engineering data, project results, etc.
  • Requires up to 15% travel.
  • Must observe all safety rules and regulations. Safe operation of all equipment.
