Mechanical Engineer I

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer I to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for developing maneuvering and fuel control systems for a range of marine mechanical equipment. Key responsibilities include diagnosing issues with machinery, performing testing and experiments to enhance product designs, and leveraging various technologies to support the development of new products.
What you'll be doing:
- Identify deficiencies in mechanical processes and developing improvements.
- Designing and developing prototypes.
- Analyzing and testing prototypes and each revision of the device.
- Mechanical design using Solidworks, FEA analysis and fluid.
- Modeling and programming using Matlab Simulink.
- Creating, testing and evaluating control systems and tuning PID controllers.
- Developing and initiating and managing all phases of various projects.
- Preparing documentation of critical analysis and providing suggestions for correcting errors.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience using MATLAB, Simulink, and CAN
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Knowledge of motor control, sensors, mechatronics, and communication preferred
- Knowledge and experience in system design and sensor integration within the automobile or marine industry, experience in working on a multidisciplinary team, college club such as Autonomous Vehicle or Formula SAE or similar experience is acceptable
