Role A - Regional Network Deployment & Scaling Engineers - 44 positions Contractors will provide a 24x7 follow the sun model to support OCI's Regional Network Deployment and Scaling (RNDS) organization by:
i. Deploying greenfield network infrastructure and enabling connectivity for new OCI regions and child sites.
ii. Supporting brownfield scaling including CFAB rack adds, compute expansions, server rack adds, and decommissions.
iii. Building and managing data center fabrics, edge, backbone, and metro fiber networks.
iv. Executing region builds, DRCC/Alloy expansions, multi-cloud integrations, and Butterfly turn-ups.
v. Operating in a CI/CD pipeline environment using GitHub and OCI's internal tools for automated deployments.
vi. Developing scripts and automation (Python preferred) to reduce manual deployment effort.
vii. Leveraging networking expertise across BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, IPSEC, VPN, SSL, and working with Arista, Cisco and other network hardware.
viii. Execution of Jira ticket assignments that relate to Network infrastructure RNS projects.
ix. Attendance and coordination of team and project meetings.
x. Adherence to Oracle's security and safety best practices.
xi. Weekend support is required, and on-call support may be required.
B. Description of Deliverables - Role A: i. Completed deployments per NRB project schedules, which will be shared with supplier per project.
ii. Complete 1 artifact per week in Swimlane engineer is assigned to.
iii. Complete 20 rack decom tickets per week
iv. Complete 300 Server Adds tickets per week
v. Validated automation scripts committed to repositories. vi. Runbooks and documentation for new builds and scaling events.
vii. Knowledge transfer sessions with OCI staff.
C. Acceptance Criteria - Role A i. Deliverables will be considered complete and accepted when the following criteria are met:
Internal - General Use ii. Project Deployments - All deployments are completed per NRB project
schedules shared with the supplier and meet OCI's quality, scope, and functional standards. Completion must be verified through OCI's tracking systems (JIRA).
iii. Artifacts - A minimum of one (1) artifact per week is delivered within the assigned Swimlane. Each artifact must be reviewed, approved, and version- controlled in the OCI repository.
iv. Rack Decommission Tickets - A minimum of twenty (20) rack decom tickets are completed per week following OCI procedures and validated in ServiceNow by OCI operations.
v. Server Add Tickets - A minimum of three hundred (300) Server Add tickets are completed per week, following standard build procedures with zero critical defects. Completion verified in OCI systems.
vi. Automation Validation - All automation scripts are peer-reviewed, tested, and committed to OCI repositories following coding and documentation standards, with OCI tech lead approval.
vii. Runbooks and Documentation - Delivered before production releases, including detailed steps, rollback plans, and validation procedures. Approved and stored in the designated OCI repository.
viii. Knowledge Transfer Sessions - Conducted per project transition plan, with OCI staff participation and confirmation of completion. Supporting materials (slides, recordings, notes) are stored in the repository. Role B - Network Engineers/Administrators, R&D Validation (4 positions) Contractors will provide on-site and remote support for network validation, testing, and qualification in OCI's Santa Clara and Bangalore India facilities.
Do
- Provide adequate support in architecture planning, migration & installation for new projects in own tower (platform/dbase/ middleware/ backup)
- Lead the structural/ architectural design of a platform/ middleware/ database/ back up etc. according to various system requirements to ensure a highly scalable and extensible solution
- Conduct technology capacity planning by reviewing the current and future requirements
- Utilize and leverage the new features of all underlying technologies to ensure smooth functioning of the installed databases and applications/ platforms, as applicable
- Strategize & implement disaster recovery plans and create and implement backup and recovery plans
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the tower
- Manage day-to-day operations by troubleshooting any issues, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and developing fixes to avoid similar issues.
- Plan for and manage upgradations, migration, maintenance, backup, installation and configuration functions for own tower
- Review the technical performance of own tower and deploy ways to improve efficiency, fine tune performance and reduce performance challenges
- Develop shift roster for the team to ensure no disruption in the tower
- Create and update SOPs, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, daily test plans, data architecture guidance etc.
- Provide weekly status reports to the client leadership team, internal stakeholders on database activities w.r.t. progress, updates, status, and next steps
- Leverage technology to develop Service Improvement Plan (SIP) through automation and other initiatives for higher efficiency and effectiveness
