Job Description

About the Role:

Wipro is seeking a Software Delivery Manager to help deliver our mission- and business-critical application services to internal customers. Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, our goal is to deliver excellent technical software solutions with outstanding customer service, satisfaction, and timeliness. This position is part of the Professional Services organization and requires a diverse and flexible skill set for supporting a wide range of applications within our client's Enterprise Engineering products portfolio. Candidates must be passionate about technology, come from a strong software engineering background, preferably worked as a software engineer and architect, live amazing customer service, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Our clients are Fortune 100 technology companies, providing platforms that help connect people around the world. They share a core value of scaling business by putting people first, and the Enterprise Products team is uniquely positioned to propel this work to the next level as the customer's needs act as the guiding compass, not the technology's limitations!

Customer's Expectation:

  1. Drive. We need a driven leader who thrives on exceeding a demanding customer's expectations. This is definitely a challenging role. But it's also a rewarding role for those with the highest standards of excellence who pride themselves in leading teams to overcome adversity.
  2. Curiosity. We need someone who is not afraid to meet with Meta Engineering, ask questions, try different ways of working, and find new ways to improve Meta's systems and processes. They need to be curious about their teams, trying to find out who is contributing and how, trying to learn who needs help and why, and considering feedback from others to learn and continually improve.
  3. Accountability/Results-orientation. We need someone with experience leading teams to productive outcomes. Working in an outsourcing environment with a newly built team means our leaders need to get into the weeds with the whole team to learn who is able to produce results and who isn't. Performance management should come naturally to them. There are ways to do this that result in the entire team excelling as everyone knows "the rising tide lifts all boats." We can do this here by instilling pride in our work and being recognized for the value we create for Meta.
  4. Client management experience. Honestly, I have found that, when someone excels in #1 through #3 above, that takes care of half of the problem. Meta notices when an SDM is doing those things, and they appreciate it. The numbers speak for themselves, and it makes the client relationship much easier. That said, we do need this SDM to be able to exude confidence when working with the client, to be able to create presentations that are easy to consume, and to speak clearly and succinctly when presenting to senior leaders. This certainly makes my life a hell of a lot easier because I spend a lot of time trying to do this for my SDMs right now.
  5. Full stack engineering experience and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)/Agile Development experience. 75% of their team will be a mix of junior and senior full stack engineers. So, knowing how to lead these kinds of people would be helpful. That said, anyone with Java Full stack - MERN Stack / Java SB MS - Development experience leading technical resources should know how to drive outcomes with these kinds of team members through planning meetings, daily standups, and retrospectives.
  6. Revenue Tax Experience.25% of this team will be 3rd party oriented. Any experience with Vertex, Oracle Fusion Tax, or Revenue Management applications or knowledge of the financial or revenue operations domains would be helpful.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of full stack software engineers, data engineers, and 3rd party business application programmers.
  • Improve operational processes and support critical business strategies by managing the development, implementation, deployment and maintenance of varied software applications, both 1st party systems and 3rd party systems.

  • Define deadlines, develop goals, and track performance metrics for the engineering teams and department.

  • Coach, mentor, and assist with technical training for all aspects of the engineering team.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate recurring issues and increase automated detection and resolution.
  • Oversee clear and effective communication with all stakeholders on a continuous basis.
  • Ensure proper change management, release management and application performance quality processes are strictly followed.
  • Observe and comply with client policies and procedures for Privacy, Health and Safety at Work and Equality and Diversity. Continually promote equal opportunities, health and safety and customer care in compliance with organizational aims and objectives
