Cloud DB SRE Engineer/DBA
- As a Cloud DB SRE Engineer / DBA, you will be the architect of our data backbone. Your mission is to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our database systems that handle 1TB of daily log data and support our On-premise LLM-based AIOps initiatives.
- You will transition from traditional RDBMS management to managing high-performance Vector Databases and Time-Series Databases in a global, multi-region cloud environment.
- You'll be part of a global team of DevOps/SREs that work together and support each other to provide the best in quality of services.
- You are required to work from Harman office at Yatap or sometimes in Suwon Samsung Electronics, aligning with our key engineering and operations stakeholders.
Long Description
What You Will Do
- Next-Gen Data Infrastructure: Design and operate scalable database architectures (SQL, NoSQL, and Vector DBs) to support real-time AIOps and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows.
- Performance Optimization at Scale: Fine-tune database performance to ingest and query massive log streams with minimal latency, ensuring data is ready for AI-driven analysis.
- Global Database Operations: Manage and automate database lifecycles across multi-region cloud infrastructures, collaborating with our globally distributed SRE peers.
- Reliability & SRE Practice: Implement robust backup, disaster recovery (DR), and proactive monitoring (SLI/SLO) for mission-critical data stores.
- DevOps Integration: Enable seamless DB-as-a-Service (DBaaS) for application teams by integrating database automation into our CI/CD pipelines.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Database Expertise: Strong proficiency in managing Open-source DBs (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) in cloud environments.
- AIOps Readiness: Experience with or a strong interest in Vector Databases (e.g., Milvus, Pinecone, or pgvector) for LLM context storage.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Solid experience with Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes Operators to manage database infrastructure.
- Cloud Engineering Skills: Deep understanding of cloud-native storage solutions and networking in a global scale.
- Understanding and operational experience with AWS RDS, DynamoDB.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., DataDog, Prometheus, ELK Stack).
- Experience in managing and processing large-scale data and using data migration tools.
What Makes You Eligible
- A Bachelor's degree in CS or a related field or equivalent experience in Cloud Technologies.
- Overall, more than 5 to 9 years of experience of DB engineer in operating RDBMS and plus at least one NoSQL environment such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis cluster
- Minimum 2 year of experience in using AWS is mandatory and required at least one other public cloud environment such as Azure, GCP.
- Experience in designing and optimizing database schemas for large-scale, high-traffic environments.
- Proficiency in developing automation scripts for database operations.
- Understanding and experience in cloud infrastructure environments, DevOps, and SRE methodologies.

- Problem solving and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross functional team environment
- Self-directed and proactive process improvement with capabilities for organization & time management
- Understanding data governance and data quality management
- Good at Airflow(ETL) and proactive troubleshooting
- Database transition experience between heterogeneous models
