AWS Principal Architect
Role Summary
Seeking an experienced AWS Principal Architect to design and lead shared cloud platforms-including multi-tenant Shared EKS, Shared API Gateway, and automation for user onboarding and workload lifecycle management. This role blends hands-on AWS engineering with architectural leadership, setting platform standards and solving complex issues across security, networking, and distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Platform Design
- Architect secure, scalable Shared EKS clusters with multi-tenancy, workload isolation, and governance.
- Design and operate a Shared AWS API Gateway platform (auth, throttling, routing, version management).
- Define reference architectures, golden paths, and platform guardrails.
- Lead workload onboarding architecture reviews and technical solutioning.

- Automate onboarding: namespaces, IAM roles, RBAC, bootstrapping templates, and pipeline enablement.
- Troubleshoot issues across IAM, VPC networking, Kubernetes resources, CI/CD, and integrations.
- Maintain operational dashboards, diagnostics, and runbooks.
IaC, Automation & CI/CD
- Build and maintain IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation for EKS, API Gateway, VPC, IAM, and supporting services.
- Standardize CI/CD and GitOps workflows (GitLab/Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Helm).
- Automate environment consistency and deployment reliability.
Security & Governance
- Implement platform security: IRSA, pod security, network policies, encryption, runtime controls.
- Enable secure API access using OAuth2, JWT, IAM auth, and enterprise identity providers.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory controls.
Kubernetes & Platform Engineering
- Operate and optimize EKS clusters: scaling, node groups, CNI, autoscaling, ingress/egress patterns.
- Deploy platform components: service mesh, secrets management, ingress controllers, cluster add-ons.
- Apply SRE principles-SLOs, error budgets, resilience engineering.
Observability & Performance
- Implement observability with CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, X-Ray, OpenTelemetry.
- Lead performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
- Drive root-cause analysis across platform and application workloads.
Leadership
- Mentor engineers, review designs and code, and raise engineering quality.
- Influence platform strategy and technical roadmaps.
- Collaborate with product and operations teams to align platform capabilities to business needs.
Qualifications
Required
- 10 years engineering experience; 5 years deep AWS expertise.
- Strong architecture expertise with EKS, API Gateway, VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS/Aurora.
- Expertise in Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, Docker, Terraform/CloudFormation.
- Proven CI/CD and GitOps experience.
- Strong troubleshooting across AWS, networking, Kubernetes, and pipelines.
- Demonstrated leadership through standards, reviews, and team mentorship.
Mandatory Skills: Cloud App Dev Consulting .
Experience: 8-10 Years .
The expected compensation for this role ranges from $80,000 to $158,000 .
Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
