Role Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to architect and deliver innovative and efficient data platform solutions leveraging Databricks technology. The selected professional will serve as a thought leader, guiding technical teams and collaborating across departments to enhance client satisfaction through state-of-the-art architectural designs. This position requires a strategic mindset to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective data environments that align with business priorities while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Responsibilities include driving end-to-end data architecture from ingestion through transformation and governance, optimizing workflows, and ensuring compliance with industry best practices. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence enterprise data strategies and be instrumental in shaping the data engineering practices within a dynamic, forward-thinking technology services organization.

Candidates must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 4 years of deep hands-on expertise specifically with Databricks. They will have a track record of leading the design and deployment of resilient, scalable, and secure data platform solutions using Databricks Lakehouse Architecture.

• Extensive experience managing Delta Lake tables including schema evolution, ACID transactions, and interoperability within Lakehouse ecosystems.
• Proficiency in integrating Databricks with ETL, orchestration, and streaming platforms, mastering tools like Autoloader and Spark Structured Streaming.
• Strong command of Spark ecosystem components including Spark SQL, DataFrame API, and programming languages such as Python, Scala, and SQL.
• Skill with Databricks native capabilities such as Workflows, Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog, Lakeflow, and Lakehouse Federation to streamline data operations and security.
• Expertise in cluster configuration, workspace management, performance tuning, and cost optimization to ensure efficient resource utilization.
• Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code solutions, leveraging technologies such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps for automated deployments and maintenance.
• Deep knowledge in data modelling principles covering conceptual, logical, and physical models facilitating robust and maintainable data architectures.
• Ability to cultivate and maintain technical and executive client relationships, understanding stakeholder needs and translating them into actionable designs and documentation to support business goals.

Additionally, exposure to AI and Generative AI technologies and any relevant professional certifications in Databricks or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) will be considered valuable assets.
