Role Summary

The Data Center Technician (L1) provides day-to-day hands-on support for data center and office infrastructure. The role focuses on IMAC execution, structured cabling, basic hardware support, documentation updates, and site upkeep, working under established standards, procedures, and supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Cabling Support

  • Install and maintain copper, fiber, twin-ax, and patch cables per defined standards.
  • Perform basic IMAC cabling based on approved RFCs or service requests.
  • Execute physical cable management: routing, dressing, fastening, labeling, and cleanup.
  • Assist with overhead conveyance, pass-throughs, and patching.
  • Perform basic fiber and copper testing.
  • Maintain cabling inventory (cables, labels, fasteners).

IMAC & Hardware Tasks
  • Install IT equipment: unbox, rack, cable, power connect, label, and clean up.
  • Move equipment within or between sites as instructed.
  • Assist with decommissioning: equipment removal, recycling preparation, and drive removal (as directed).
  • Perform basic hardware replacements (PSUs, SFPs, DIMMs under guidance).
  • Update DCIM (StruxureWare) and documentation as instructed.

Power, Cooling & Monitoring
  • Connect devices to rack PDUs following A/B power guidance.
  • Assist with monitoring of environmental and power alerts.
  • Escalate power or cooling issues to L2/Lead.

Logistics & Site Support
  • Support shipping and receiving of IT equipment.
  • Store, organize, and track equipment and spares.
  • Escort vendors when required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of data center and storage areas.

Office IT & Hands-and-Feet
  • Support office cabling, phone deployment, and MAC activities.
  • Provide onsite IT hands-and-feet support for remote teams.

Process & Compliance
  • Work strictly against approved RFCs / Service Requests.
  • Use ServiceNow / JIRA / Stream Impak for ticket updates.
  • Participate in audits, site tours, and on-call support as required.


Mandatory Skills: Desktop Support .

Experience: 1-3 Years .

The expected compensation for this role ranges from $37,500 to $83,600 .

Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
