Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Control Management Officer to join our team. The WIM Shared Services Control team is responsible for partnering with the relevant business group to identify, assess, manage and mitigate current and emerging risk exposures associated with their activities and operations.
This person is responsible for partnering with the WIM Shared Services business group to identify, assess, monitor, and advise and mitigate current and emerging risk exposures associated with their activities and operations. They will also monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function.
Leadership, integrity, and credibility will be determining factors in selection. Successful candidates will be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership capability; they will be impressive in their inter-personal effectiveness and with regard to their accomplishments. A leader with strong relationship management, influencing, vision and execution skills is crucial to the role. A key differentiator will be the ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed corporate environment, operating with a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement.
In this role, you will:
- Serve as a Business Control Management (BCM), applying deep product/process knowledge to drive effective risk strategies, define risks, set controls and governance, and enable monitoring, reporting, audit, and regulatory readiness.
- Lead control assessments aligned to enterprise frameworks; support RCSA and Issues Management governance and drive risk and control coverage for WIM Shared Services
- Maintain, enhance and integrate RCSA, triggers, testing, audit, and regulatory outputs.
- Design, implement, and monitor controls aligned to risk appetite; perform root-cause analysis on issues to ensure adequate remediation.
- Improve control documentation (design/performance rationales, MCR narratives) and manage RCSA triggers and the Issues lifecycle.
- Engage with WIM leadership on strategic changes/new products; support audits/regulatory exams and provide actionable risk insights.
- Lead complex, cross-functional risk resolutions; advise senior leaders; mentor project/virtual teams and monitor, measure, evaluate and report impact of decisions and business controls for WIM Shared Services.
- 7+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services Industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Proven history of establishing end to end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes
- Demonstrated capability to confidently raise issues, escalate early, and engage in constructive credible challenge independently
- Knowledge of the financial services industry, products, and regulatory environment
- Clear understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type (regulatory, financial crimes, credit, operational, etc.)
- Strong Analytical skills including strategically analyzing data, diagnosing opportunities, and providing interventions
- Ability to lead multiple efforts with high risk and complexity
- Ability to create and present executive level communications/presentations
- Ability to implement a solution and communicate, in clear business terms, the benefits of the proposed risk management approach
- This position offers a hybrid work schedule
