Lead Market Risk Officer - Corporate and Investment Banking Risk

About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Market Risk Officer for the Market Risk Cross Functional Oversight team withing the Corporate Market Risk Group (CMRG). In addition to trading desk oversight, the Cross Functional Oversight team is responsible for managing major risk initiatives, reporting solutions and oversight of processes that involve multiple product areas in CMRG, including Profit and Loss Attribution (PLA).
In this role, you will:
- Provide PLA oversight with significant exposure across the various trading desks, Market Risk Oversight (MRO), and support functions such as business management, control teams, compliance and internal audit
- Partner effectively with Business Stakeholders, Sales & Trading, Technology, and Project Management teams
- Deliver high-quality, scalable, reconciliation and reporting processes
- Develop robust documentation of the PLA oversight process
- Act as an advisor to senior leadership to develop or influence analytical strategies for highly complex business and technical needs
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring analytical application of industry techniques and advanced data from multiple sources across the enterprise
- Enhance and maintain Risk Theoretical Profit and Loss (RTPL) comparison frameworks across trading businesses
- Validate model inputs and outputs used in RTPL
- Ensure consistency and traceability in attribution methodologies
- Automate reconciliation processes and support continued GUI development for RTPL vs. FO PLA and sensitivity comparisons
- Contribute to remediation sustainability and audit readiness
- Monitor daily clean P&L and attribution metrics and threshold breaches across trading desks
- Review and challenge adjustments caused by position change, cash flows, fees/commissions, theta and other drivers of unexplained P&L
- Review and escalate Volcker Management Triggers (VMTs) in accordance with policy
- Provide credible challenge and sign-off on attribution components prior to external delivery
- Support quarterly reviews and issue identification across business units
- Collaborate with trading desks, middle office teams and finance teams to resolve attribution anomalies
- 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, Capital Markets, market risk, interest rate risk or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Strong hands-on coding experience in Python, and SQL
- Demonstrated proficiency with business intelligence tools such as Excel and Power BI
- Deep understanding of derivative pricing models and risk measurement calculations such as Value-at-Risk (VaR), stress scenarios and risk factor sensitivities
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computational Finance, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and work under pressure in a dynamic and fast-paced working environment
- Familiarity with Volcker and Market Risk Capital PLA requirements
