Finance Director Wealth Investment Management

Wells Fargo is seeking a Finance Director to serve as the Finance Leader for the support Digital and Direct Investing (DDI), Independent Solutions, and Investment Solutions platforms. This Director will provide strategic financial leadership to the Head of WIM Digital, Independent Solutions and WIM Investment Solutions and partner with senior leaders to drive performance, optimize operations, and support long-term growth. The role will also serve as a finance leader to the Chief Product Officer - who oversees the roughly $250MM technology investment across WIM's platforms.

Wealth Investment Management

Wells Fargo Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) provides clients access to some of the United States' leading providers of financial and investment services. Digital and Direct Investing (DDI) Channel: Wells Fargo's Digital and Direct Investing channel is primarily our self-directed investment platform that includes WellsTrade, Intuitive Investor and virtual advice offerings. DDI's primary strategy is to offer a compelling digital offering to our clients who elect to self-direct, and to offer advice to clients comfortable working over the phone with a team of advisors. These clients can be a funnel to our other advisor channels as their client's needs change over time. Clients' assets within the channel equate to roughly ~$150B in assets under management and ~$500MM in annual revenue.

Independent Solutions Platform: Wells Fargo's independent channels are comprised of Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network (FiNet) and First Clearing, which provides clearing and custody services to broker-dealers and registered investment advisors. The FiNet platform is catered to our advisor base that value independence while having access to the overall Wealth platform, allowing them to meet all their client's needs (investing, planning, balance sheet). Industry shows the overall advisor population choosing independence more each year versus the traditional wire house channels, making this a key and important channel when we think about the strategic value proposition of WIM as a whole. Client assets within the channel equate to roughly ~$400B in assets under management, ~$3B in annual revenue and ~2,500 financial advisors.

Investment Solutions Platform: provides comprehensive investment research and guidance to support clients and advisors. Wells Fargo Investment Institute (WFII) produces research on third-party managers, funds, and securities; develops investment guidance; and creates model asset allocation and portfolio recommendations. In addition, WFII offers investment advisory services through model portfolios and discretionary portfolio management, helping clients achieve their financial goals with informed, strategic solutions.

The Role:

As the Finance Director for DDI, Independent Solutions and Investment Solutions platforms you will:

  • Provide strategic finance leadership to the business leaders.
  • Lead annual budget, monthly forecast, and actuals variance analysis.
  • Lead LOB Monthly Business Review deck process - follow-ups, agenda, content, packaging.
  • Responsible for core business metric reporting development in support of the businesses.
  • Provide Finance support to senior leadership in support of workforce and growth strategies.
  • Support business case development for platform investments, market expansion, and transformation initiatives.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and risk management practices.
  • Collaborate with enterprise finance teams and other business units to align on priorities and share best practices.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead financial oversight for several key channels and platforms
  • Drive strategic initiatives to improve profitability, efficiency, and customer outcomes
  • Provide financial insights to support executive decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Represent finance in cross-functional initiatives and governance forums
  • Develop and mentor finance talent to support succession planning and organizational growth
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of Finance experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in financial services or a global systemically important bank (GSIB)
  • Prior finance experience supporting a Wealth Investment Management business (primarily Self-Directed / Digital and Independent offerings)
  • Strong executive presence and ability to present to C-suite leaders
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to influence across complex, matrixed organizations
  • Track record of driving large-scale transformation and change
  • Commitment to ethical leadership and fostering an inclusive culture
