Senior Rheology Leader - Job Overview

The Senior Rheology Leader will build and lead a dedicated national rheology organization to restore execution excellence and accelerate market share recovery in China. This role owns the end‑to‑end rheology strategy-driving deep technical engagement with customers, aligning sales, application, and service teams, and elevating TA's position in a structurally growing, high‑value market. It is a unique opportunity to shape a specialized business, develop top technical talent, and directly influence growth in one of China's most strategic materials science segments.

  • Own and lead the national Rheology business strategy in China, with full accountability for revenue growth, market share recovery, and execution excellence across all customer segments.
  • Build and manage a dedicated Rheology organization (sales, application, and service), ensuring tight cross‑functional alignment to deliver end‑to‑end, application‑driven customer solutions.
  • Drive deep technical and strategic engagement with key customers, positioning Rheology as a critical capability for advanced materials, process optimization, and high‑value applications.
  • Strengthen competitive positioning versus dedicated Rheology competitors, by improving win rates, shortening sales cycles, and elevating TA's technical and application leadership in the market.
  • Develop and coach specialized Rheology talent, raising overall technical depth, customer credibility, and long‑term organizational capability.
  • Partner closely with regional sales leadership and service management, ensuring effective funnel generation, disciplined execution, and high‑quality installations without disrupting existing service operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education: An advanced degree (Master's or PhD preferred) in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field is required. A solid academic or practical background in rheology or materials characterization is highly desirable.

Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in rheology, materials characterization, or analytical instrumentation, with a proven track record of leadership in sales, applications, business management, or technical organizations.

Leadership & Management Competencies: Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and scale specialized, capability-driven teams-including sales, application, and service functions-in matrixed and cross-regional environments.

Technical & Commercial Competence: Recognized technical expertise in rheology and adjacent disciplines, paired with strong commercial acumen to drive pipeline development, enhance win rates, and compete successfully in a dynamic market.

Strategic & Execution Capability: Ability to effectively translate strategy into actionable plans, manage competing priorities, and deliver measurable business results within growth or recovery-focused settings.

Communication & Stakeholder Management: Superior interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective influence of senior clients, internal stakeholders, and global leadership teams.

Language Requirements: Fluent English (both spoken and written) is required for engagement with global stakeholders; native or fluent Mandarin Chinese is essential for leading teams and managing customer relationships in China.
