As Inside Service Sales Specialist, you are an ambassador of Waters and will bring to the market Waters' products and services. You will demonstrate a clear grasp of understanding the customers' business and its growth plans, as well as be able to take the knowledge and convert that into a solution and offering from Waters, with a primary aim of bringing "customer success". In this role, you will interface via the phone and email with end users, key decision makers, department heads, purchasing agents, technicians, and scientists. Effective customer relationship skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to effectively negotiate are crucial to succeeding in this role. A key competency will be the ability to collaborate with your colleagues across the entire Waters field service organization.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting or exceeding agreed targets relating to managing the entire Service Plan business on a defined sales territory within Italy, upgrading the processes, and establishing partnerships with customers.
  • Develop relationships with our Service Sales Specialists and Technical Support Team maintaining and developing existing customer and identifying and developing business opportunities.
  • Support Service Sales Specialists with public tenders
  • Update colleagues of new areas of opportunity for revenue or lead sources.
  • Collaborating, liaising, and providing guidance and support across departments to ensure customer success. You will be working closely with all other groups at Waters (e.g. Instrument Sales, Consumables Group and Informatics etc.), in addition to the operational Service Managers;
  • Formulating and successfully implementing business plans.
  • Respond to all leads in a timely and professional manner.
  • Adhering to Waters and customers relevant Health, Safety and Environment requirements when on site and as an individual employee.
  • Contribute to metrics to monitor KPIs, lead generation, and opportunity development.
  • Provide regular reports on performance and sales trends.
  • Using related systems, e.g. SalesForce, Quotation system, with a keen mind on improvements and upgrades;
  • Develop a good understanding of the Waters Product Portfolio and solutions (hands-on experience is a plus);
  • Working with marketing to develop dedicated quarterly campaigns to promote product offerings and solutions.
  • Any other duties consummate to the level and nature of the role.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Science preferred

Experience:

  • Technical and practical solution Selling Experience, ideally in LC/MS field, proven track record with Inside Sales or Technical support is a plus
  • Experience in a laboratory, with a background in chromatography and mass spectrometry is a plus
  • Exposure within relevant field/industry

Competencies:

  • Fluent in English and Italian; any additional language skills are a benefit.
  • Highly passionate person with charisma, perseverance and determination, plus the ability to work effectively in challenging sales situations
  • Customer focused with good level of listening skills
  • You enjoy communicating with customers over the telephone
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical & commercial values
  • Good interpersonal skills with a positive sense of humor and can contribute as part of an integrated sales/service organization with a high degree of self-motivation to meet / exceed targets
  • Good priority setting and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of computers and the use of standard Windows based packages (knowledge of a Waters chromatography or mass spectrometry data system "EMPOWER" would also be a plus)
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written, verbal and organizational skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PPT). Experience of using SalesForce based platform is a plus

Travel:

  • Living within a sensible commuting distance to the Waters Sesto San Giovanni office
  • a plus is living close to an international train station and/or airport in Italy
  • Flexible remote working possibility
  • A valid passport will be required
  • This in-house based position will sometimes require some occasional travels to other countries for activities such as meetings and training
