Are you ready to shape the digital backbone of a global leader in scientific discovery? Waters is seeking a Principal Developer - Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) to drive the evolution of our global digital platform. This hands-on role demands deep expertise in AEM, a passion for scalable engineering, and the ability to influence technical direction across squads. You will lead complex development efforts, mentor senior engineers, and ensure our digital experiences meet the highest standards of performance, security, and usability.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Lead design and implementation of full-stack AEM solutions, ensuring best practices across front-end and back-end development.
- Translate business goals into technical requirements and drive projects through the full software development lifecycle.
- Lead performance tuning, code optimization, and advanced debugging across environments.
- Ensure code quality through rigorous reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD best practices
- Conduct design and code reviews, ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability of digital platforms across on-prem, cloud, and Edge environments.
- Partner with Visual Design and UX teams to deliver effective and engaging web and mobile experiences.
- Own and enhance specific areas of Waters.com such as product pages, search, account, video experiences, and performance optimization.
- Development & Delivery
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, stable, and secure web, mobile, and eCommerce solutions using AEM and related technologies.
- Develop AEM components, templates, workflows, and experience fragments to support content authors and marketing teams.
- Collaborate with DevOps and QA teams to ensure efficient deployment pipelines, testing, and quality delivery.

- Contribute to continuous improvement through modern engineering practices and automation.
- Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work within an agile/scrum framework, coordinating efforts across squads and supporting continuous delivery initiatives.
- Mentor senior and junior developers, promoting best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
- Lead technical workshops, spike investigations, and internal knowledge sharing.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, providing clear technical insights and recommendations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software development experience, including full lifecycle AEM implementations.
- Expertise in AEM development-front-end and back-end (Sling, OSGi, JCR, Workflows, Components).
- Proven experience leading complex AEM implementations across on-prem, cloud, and edge.
- Mastery of Java, J2EE, JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery.
- Experience with performance optimization, security, and accessibility standards.
- Experience coding standards-compliant, cross-browser-compatible HTML/CSS.
- Hands-on experience with AEM integrations and content management best practices.
- Familiarity with continuous deployment, DevOps, and version control (Git).
- Proven success working in agile/scrum environments.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
