Principal Analyst, Manufacturing IT Systems
Overview
Waters is looking for an experienced Principal Manufacturing IT Systems Analyst to define, govern and advance Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) in support of Waters global manufacturing footprint.
This role sits at the intersection of manufacturing operations, digital manufacturing strategy, and enterprise integration, ensuring shop‑floor and asset management systems enable scalable growth, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and rapid integration of new capabilities including acquisitions and external manufacturing partners.
The position operates with broad autonomy, shapes long‑term manufacturing systems strategy, and influences decision‑making at site, regional, and global levels.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain global standards, architectures, and governance models for manufacturing execution and asset management systems.
- Shape the long‑term MES and CMMS roadmap, aligned with Digital Manufacturing, Global Operations strategy, and enterprise architecture.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors to inform build vs buy and platform rationalization decisions.
- Enable Digital Manufacturing capabilities across Global Operations, including Electronic Batch / Device History Records (eBMR/eDHR), Digital work instructions and operator execution, asset reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Serve as a trusted IT partner to Global Operations leadership, site operations, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams.
- Balance global standardization with site level operational needs, enabling controlled flexibility where required.
- Influence operating models, processes, and data standards through system design rather than point solutions.
- Develop integration playbooks for onboarding new sites, partners, or technologies into the Global Operations landscape.
- Collaborate closely with Automation, IT/OT, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity teams to ensure secure, resilient manufacturing architectures.
- Ensure MES and CMMS solutions meet GxP, data integrity, and regulatory requirements (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11).
- Provide oversight and direction for major MES and CMMS programs, including vendor led implementations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in manufacturing IT systems within complex or regulated environments.
- Deep expertise in MES, CMMS and EAM platforms (e.g., Opcenter, Apriso, Tulip, Maximo, ServiceNow or similar).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, maintenance processes, and shop floor execution.
- Proven experience operating at a global, multi site level.
- Strong knowledge of IT/OT convergence and manufacturing network design.
- Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and detailed technical levels.
