Intern, Business Data Analytics - Customer Experience & Service Offerings

Overview

The Business Data Analytics Intern will support the Global Service organization by developing customer experience models that help differentiate and optimize service offerings across regions and customer segments. This role focuses on analyzing install base, service contract, and customer experience data to identify insights that inform service portfolio design, pricing, and go‑to‑market strategies. The intern will work closely with Service, Commercial Operations, and Analytics teams to translate data into actionable recommendations that improve customer value and drive service growth.

This is a 10-12 week summer internship and is based out of the TA Instruments site in New Castle, DE.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze service and customer experience data (e.g., install base, service contracts, service interactions, response and resolution metrics) to identify patterns and segmentation opportunities
  • Support development of customer experience models that differentiate service offerings by customer type, usage, and regional needs
  • Identify drivers of customer satisfaction, retention, and service contract attach/renewal
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate insights clearly to service and commercial leaders
  • Partner with Service and Commercial teams to translate analytical findings into practical recommendations for service offerings and value propositions
  • Contribute to documentation of methodologies, assumptions, and insights to support scalability and repeatability of analytics

Deliverables / Outcomes

  • A customer experience segmentation or model linked to differentiated service offerings
  • Clear recommendations on how service offerings can be tailored to improve customer value and commercial outcomes
  • Visual analytics or dashboards supporting service decision‑making

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel and/or data visualization tools
  • Ability to structure and analyze data to answer business questions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights to non‑technical audiences

  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, R, or similar analytics tools
  • Familiarity with customer experience metrics, service operations, or commercial analytics
  • Exposure to CRM or ERP data (e.g., Salesforce, SAP)
  • Interest in service business models, customer experience, and data‑driven decision‑making
