Instrument Control Software Engineer

Overview

As part of a multi-year strategic initiative Waters Wilmslow is looking for an Instrument Control Software (ICS) Engineer who is looking for career growth, skill set expansion and increased experience. A successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team and work as part of a cross portfolio ICS software team.

The program team is expanding and offers excellent potential for career and skill expansion and has responsibility across Mass Spectrometry, Chromatography and Informatics, partnering directly with customers and industry leaders to drive innovation in markets and powering breakthroughs in precision medicine and advanced therapeutics.

Responsibilities

What you'll do

  • Develop and enhance instrument-control software for MS systems
  • Design, test, review and document high-quality code
  • Collaborate across teams to solve technical challenges
  • Act as a technical expert, promoting best practices globally
  • Mentor others and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Support and improve our Quality Management System

Qualifications

What you bring

Experience in hardware control software, embedded systems, real-time h/w control, plus:

  • Strong C++/C# knowledge
  • Experience in Angular, TypeScript and Linux development is desired
  • Background in embedded or acquisition-system software
  • Solid engineering practices (Unit Testing, TDD, CI/CD, SOLID, BDD)
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Nice to have (training provided): Agile, Docker/Gradle pipelines, BDD, Atlassian tools, software security, regulated-environment experience.
