The Staff, Product Operations - Platforms role reports to the Senior Director, Product & Data Operations, and is responsible for supporting our Platforms organization by helping translate platform priorities into clear operating rhythms, technical intake practices, release readiness, documentation, enablement, and feedback loops. This role works closely with the systems and architecture that power our business - from the CMS and editorial tools that enable journalists to create and publish stories, to the platforms that deliver content across our website, app, and linear channels. We are reimagining how CNN produces the news, and we need your help!
In this role, you will partner with senior leadership - especially the SVP of Product, Platforms - as well as cross-functional partners across Product, Design, Technology, Video Production, and Editorial, to help make platform priorities real through disciplined execution, structured operating practices, and clear communication. The right person brings technical fluency to understand platform tradeoffs, ask good questions, surface risks, and keep work
moving across CMS, publishing, experimentation, performance, and shared platform capabilities. This role does not have direct reports, requiring someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to drive work forward.
You will also collaborate with operational peers, as well as Technical Program Managers, ensuring alignment across functions and helping teams adopt a cohesive operating model across the broader organization.
A core focus of this role is operationalizing platform changes, building and improving the processes that turn priorities into shipped work, supporting experimentation and performance practices across teams, and ensuring stakeholders - from editorial and newsroom partners to product and engineering teams - have the systems, tools, and workflows they need to deliver exceptional content experiences at scale.
The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, is highly organized, understands platform and product development workflows, and can work and collaborate credibly with technical teams while keeping practical execution front and center. They are energized by making complex work easier to manage, reducing operational drag, and helping teams move from decisions to delivery.

- Connect platform roadmaps, editorial needs, and product priorities by helping teams manage dependencies, unblock decisions, and deliver successfully

- Build and maintain scalable frameworks for feature flagging, A/B testing, and data-driven decision-making
- Support site and app performance goals by embedding speed, stability, observability, and scalability considerations into platform operating processes
- Monitor experiment and platform performance, ensuring learnings are captured, shared, and actioned
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with other operators and TPMs to align on processes, dependencies, and shared goals
- Act as a connective layer between Platforms and partner teams across editorial and product functions
- Support cross-functional initiatives that require coordination across multiple disciplines, from newsroom workflow improvements to digital product launches
- Serve as a hands-on collaborator, helping teams identify practical ways to improve platform capabilities and content experiences
Reporting & Communication
- Develop and maintain reporting frameworks that provide clear, actionable updates to stakeholders
- Communicate progress, priorities, risks, and platform health to senior leadership, partners, and editorial teams, including in the form of Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs)
