Your New Role:
As a Senior Linux Systems Engineer, you will be an expert in architecting, designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining our company's enterprise computing platforms which enable critical media and non-media workflows. Our technical footprint consists of virtualized and bare metal systems that are deployed on-premises and in the cloud; We are responsible for supporting a large range of business stakeholders and workloads from general computing to resource intensive development applications. The senior Linux systems engineer will bring a high-level of expertise in the administration of Unix/Linux operating systems. A thorough understanding of server hardware and OS architecture, advanced networking and advanced storage solutions is necessary in this role. You will be responsible for all areas of the system development lifecycle including management, planning, provisioning, triage, monitoring, and decommissioning of operating systems and associated hardware technologies. You will document solutions ensuring best practices are followed and update stakeholders related to system changes. You will partner with peers and management staff on capacity planning analysis and monitoring methodologies. Concurrently you will also perform application installation and configuration into the respective virtualization platforms while providing tier three support for applications hosted within said platforms. This position involves support of compute technologies and end-users across various Warner Bros. Discovery locations across the globe.

Engineering/Primary Responsibilities
- Provide L3 support for RHEL 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and other Linux distributions across Dev/QA/Test/Prod environments
- Architect, build, maintain, and support compute delivery platforms based on technical requirements provided by application, and business stakeholders.
- Responsible for administering scalable virtual machine infrastructure in both a private and public cloud environment.
- Handles Tier 3 (complex) issues providing advanced support and triage of end-to-end virtualized environments; Works with the vendor as needed.
- Tune multiple operating systems and applications to increase performance and reliability of services.
- Provision and configure various Linux operating systems, server hardware, and core server applications/functions.
- Assist with critical patching and vulnerability remediations.
- Create and maintain documentation. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and latest technology trends
- Participates in all application integration design sessions.
- Other duties and projects as assigned and in a timely fashion.
Operations
- Troubleshoot issues with operating system images and associated server hardware for rapid response to the business units; accepts ownership and seeks timely resolution.
- Collaborates with developers and other stakeholders to ensure software is performing correctly and efficiently utilizing best practices.
- Automate systems administration tasks utilizing open-source configuration management tools.
- Ensure the highest levels of up-time; Respond to system alerts quickly ensuring that all aspects of our systems infrastructure are at production levels.
- Implement and use monitoring tools, patch management tools, and application management tools.
- Must be willing to accommodate weekend, shift, or on-call schedules when necessary.
Analytics
- Follow ITIL change management processes and participate in CAB reviews
- Develop comprehensive performance analysis of business processes and review ways of improvement.
- Actively participate in stakeholder meetings with the goal of understanding all major projects and initiatives planned.
- Develop disaster recovery or business continuity plans
Qualifications & Experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
- Candidate must possess 5-8 years of experience in either a Systems Administration or Engineering role.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (i.e. VMware ESXi, HyperV)
- Strong knowledge of RHEL, CentOS or equivalent Linux operating systems
- Candidates should have a passion for scripting/coding automation tools and technologies that improve system infrastructure and provisioning.
- Proven experience with server hardware, various operating systems, advanced networking, and storage providing high performance and robust application platforms.
- Knowledge and/or ability to comply with change management processes.
- The candidate must have excellent communications skills to be successful.
- Ability to organize information and produce technical documentation for operational effectiveness.
- Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
- Position requires after hours support for outages/impairments. Candidates will participate in a 24x7 on call support rotation.

Not Required but preferred experience:
- Preferred experience in Amazon AWS or Azure Cloud environments.
- Active directory, group policy, and security best practices
- Experience with enterprise computing in a media broadcast environment.
- Experience with single sign-on methodologies and secrets managers are a plus (i.e. vault, CyberArk, etc.)
- Windows Server operating system experience (Windows 2019/2022) a plus
- Possess Redhat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Redhat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certifications or similar
