Your New Role
The Senior Systems Engineer position requires in depth knowledge and expertise in live production systems (traditional and software defined) with a specialty in contribution.
The position seeks an individual with deep, hands-on expertise in media compression and transmission workflows, including contribution encoding, delivery paths, and end-to-end signal distribution across IP and broadcast environments. The ideal candidate will also bring strong experience with virtualized compute and storage infrastructures, automation as well as live studio environments. The individual is expected to be recognized by peers as a subject matter expert, particularly in the design, optimization, and operational support of compression and transmission chains within complex broadcast and live production environments.
The successful applicant will be extremely proficient in one or more of the following areas and seen by their peers as a subject matter expert.
- This position is responsible for maintain infrastructure related to signal delivery under the best standards available in the company, to fuel business processes in the Linear and D2C business require a strong understanding of control layers and the programming and configuration with various vendors.
- Perform procedures and maintenance activities to ensure availability of contribution of live content in the international and LATAM business
- Evaluate new technologies and how they can or cannot work in a live production environment.
- This position requires an advanced understanding of live production workflows for sports, entertainment, and news where needed in source acquisition workflows in and out of a live production environment.
Your Role Accountabilities
Architectural Design and Execution:
- Perform system design, quotation and implementation including specification of all equipment and materials required, preparation of a bill of materials and the submission of cost estimates and justification to the senior leadership team.
- Once a project is approved to progress, oversee the integration of the new system and in most cases be responsible for the configuration of all components managing any relationships with third-party or internal partners/vendors.
- Providing system overviews and training therefore excellent communication skills are a must to our T2, T1 staff and partners in operations
Engineering Support
- This position is expected to lead the support the live production enterprise at a very high level when needed, lead major incident calls (could be expected to act as the Incident Manager if appropriate) and be a source of knowledge for Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams as needed. They are expected to create training opportunities either through mentorship, training or creating knowledgebase article.
Workflow efficiencies
- Define new and creative ways to implement workflow changes to gain efficiency for the business by engaging with peers, the team and customers with innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ An Associate degree with equivalent experience will be considered
- Applicants should have a minimum of ten years of experience in live production projects and/or maintenance or eight to ten years of experience in advanced IT support/systems design that support live production.
- Demonstrated understanding of fiber optic technology and broadcast satellite systems
- This position requires a Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, electrical/electronic engineering or related discipline.
- The position prefers an individual with experience of virtualized compute and storage infrastructures and systems, Broadcast Automation, Play-to-air broadcast systems (including automation and play-out servers) and live studio and master control environments and an advanced understanding of Graphics for production, Recognized by their peers as a subject matter expert.
- Effective communicator with Senior Executives, Clients and Vendor
- Advanced English skills
