Located in the heart of the city, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Shanghai - The Making of Harry Potter is an indoor attraction designed to transport visitors into the world of filmmaking, revealing production secrets through interactive experiences, showcasing stunning sets, and displaying beautifully crafted props.

This new attraction will deliver the Studio Tour values of exceptional customer service, experiences that exceed visitors' expectations and the very best in Harry Potter retail.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour Shanghai will be operated in partnership with Jinjiang International (Holdings) Co., Ltd, a State-Owned Enterprise, ensuring a world-class experience for all who visit.

Your New Role

Reporting to the General Manager, Shanghai Studio Tour, the People & Culture Director is a core member of the leadership team and responsible for a full-spectrum HR operation. This role provides end-to-end People & Culture leadership-from mass recruitment through to long-term organizational development-while shaping a culture that reflects values and expectations of Warner Bros. Studio Tour Shanghai.

You will lead a growing HR team across People Partnering, People Operations, Learning & Development, and Recruitment. This position will continuously challenge the status quo and develop initiatives that ensure Warner Bros. Studio Tour Shanghai delivers on its values and remains an employer of choice.

Duration of role - Full Time Employee

Role Reports To - General Manager, Shanghai Studio Tour

Your Role Accountabilities

1. People Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive People Plan aligned to the Studio Tour's opening and ongoing operational needs.
  • Shape a long-term HR roadmap informed by business priorities and frontline operational realities.
  • Finalize People & Culture team structure and hire a high performing team across all disciplines. Manage and coach this team to deliver exceptional business results.
  • Support General Manager with hiring Leadership team and Management for the Studio Tour, ensuring a robust and transparent recruiting process.


2. Talent Acquisition and Development
  • Manage high-volume recruitment across operations, retail, guest experience, technology, marketing, commercial and support functions.
  • Establish onboarding practices across all levels and large-scale training programs that emphasize guest experience, safety, and brand alignment.
  • Promote and pursue optimized operating models for talent engagement, evaluating in-house vs outsourced resources to deliver elevated business performance.


3. Culture, Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Shape and embed a people-first culture that supports excellent guest experiences and high performance.
  • Partner with leaders to ensure high performance, capability development, and talent readiness.
  • Coach managers to proactively lead teams with fairness, transparency, and alignment to local cultural norms and regulations.
  • Lead the organization in thinking about engaging with the next generation workforce, proactively identifying strategies to drive employee motivation and performance.
  • Partner with Technology to understand the HR Technology Roadmap and support with the review and implementation.
  • Drive inclusion and accessibility requirements, enabling the business to deliver on its core values and enhance the employee and guest experience.


4. Employee Relations, Compliance & HR Operations
  • Oversee ER matters in partnership with leadership and Legal-balancing business needs with local Chinese employment practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all PRC labor laws, safety regulations, and JV policies, including visa/work-permit needs.
  • Leverage people analytics to inform decision-making and drive proactive talent, engagement, and HR solutions
  • Partner across People & Culture, COEs, and JV partners to ensure organizational health.
  • Define and execute on key initiatives to support business success such as policy writing and defining regular People and Culture Processes (goal setting, probations, salary reviews, bonus process)
  • Establish HR Operations protocols and processes which are effective to manage a fast-moving and regularly changing workforce


5. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate closely with all WB Studio Tour Shanghai Employees, and Warner Bros Project team to drive collective success in the pre-opening and post-opening phases of the project.
  • Maintain a strong pulse on business needs by actively participating in leadership routines.
  • Keep the General Manager and Warner Bros. People & Culture Leadership informed and consulted on sensitive or critical people matters.


Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership in complex, multi-national company and SOE environments.


Skills/Knowledge Required
  • Fluent in both Chinese and English
  • Deep understanding of local labor laws, practices and compliance regulations.
  • Experience leading HR for large, multi-disciplinary teams and high-volume customer facing or new-opening environments.
  • Experience in working across a range of HRIS and Microsoft Office products
  • Strength in project management, organizational development, HR operations, talent strategy, and change leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, cultural awareness, and ability to influence across levels.
  • A self-starter who is innovative, analytical and thrives in a fast-pasted creative and operationally complex environment.
  • A collaborative, compassionate, and solutions-focused leadership style.


Shanghai Joint Venture Employment:

Please note that this position is employed through Warner Bros. Discovery's joint venture with Jin Jiang International (Holdings) Co., Ltd. The joint venture entity is Shanghai WB Jinjiang Studio Tour Co., Ltd. Successful candidates will be hired by the joint venture company and assigned to work with Warner Bros. Discovery as required for this project.
