Your New Role
Discovery Global is seeking an experienced tax executive to lead our Tax Reporting and Compliance organization. The role will be responsible for managing WBD's global financial reporting for taxes, US federal and state tax compliance, and providing support on US federal tax audit and controversies. The role reports into the VP. Corporate Tax and manages a team of direct reports and our co-source arrangement with an external service provider. The ideal candidate should have a high level of solving problems at scale, excellent communication skills, strong business acumen and the ability to lead high performing teams and manage multiple functions in a global environment.
Your Role Accountabilities
- Tax Provision & Financial Reporting: Lead WBD's quarterly and annual global income tax reporting processes in accordance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 740), disclosures for SEC reporting, and GAAP compliance.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and analysis of tax provisions, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, and other reporting deliverables.
- Manage the global tax reporting calendar and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
- Establish controls to ensure that our global tax accounting process yields zero defects, defined as out-of-period adjustments.
- Review and sign off on accounting for income taxes and related disclosures for the company's SEC reporting.
- US & International reporting will be under this role
- US Federal & State Tax Compliance: Direct and manage the preparation and filing of all federal, state, local, and US international tax returns.
- Manage compliance with all federal and state rules, elections, and accounting method requirements.
- Ensure processes reflect current tax law changes and industry best practices.
- Partner with the Lead of State and Local tax on all state and local compliance.
- US & US International reporting will be under this role
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of tax accounting method opportunities to optimize cash tax, improve efficiency, and ensure alignment with business operations.
- US Federal Controversies:
- Partner with the Lead of Tax Controversy on US federal income tax audits
- Support the Direct of Tax Controversy with communications with tax authorities to understand, discuss, and bring resolution to complex issues
- Assist in responding to information requests related to Federal tax controversies
- Withholding Tax & Tax Systems Oversight
- Oversee global and domestic withholding tax compliance processes.
- Manage tax technology tools and systems used for reporting, provision, and compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement in tax data quality, automation, and process efficiency.
- Team Leadership
- Manage and develop the tax team.
- Build team centered around compliance planning, controls and analysis
- Communicate senior management strategic visions to staff. Ensure skills sets and competencies are aligned. Review and approve entire team's goals and objectives.
- Set prioritization of work across team.
- Maintain culture of continuous process improvement and change management.
- Regulatory Monitoring & Process Improvement: Stay updated on evolving tax laws and their impact.

Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of related work experience.
- Big 4 accounting firm experience and in-house corporate experience
- A background in tax compliance and accounting for income tax, GAAP accounting for income taxes, US federal and state income taxation, Tax reporting and compliance technology
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a graduate degree in Tax.
- Graduate degree in taxation preferred
- Broad understanding of US income taxation.
- Deep understanding of tax codes, accounting principles (ASC 740), and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with tax software and financial modeling.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Leadership and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple projects.
- Willingness to travel as needed.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $177,170.00 - $329,030.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
