Your New Role...

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) / HBO Max is seeking a senior, hands-on Head of Documentary, Nordics to guide the commissioning, shaping, and delivery of distinctive, high-impact original documentary content across the region. This role offers the opportunity to shape a compelling slate of Nordic documentary originals that reflect HBO Max's ambition, values, and editorial standards-bringing bold, local stories to a global audience. Your Role Accountabilities...

• Guide documentary projects from pitch through development, production, post-production, and delivery, balancing editorial ambition with practical and ethical considerations.
• Review and assess pitches, treatments, scripts, and cuts, while providing clear editorial direction and feedback to strengthen storytelling and structure.
• Identify and champion high-impact documentary ideas, supporting greenlight decisions and shaping a balanced, strategic slate.
• Plan and coordinate development and production pipelines across the Nordics, ensuring alignment on timelines, budgets, and delivery standards.
• Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and creative partners to refine narratives and address editorial or production challenges.
• Ensure all projects align with WBD / HBO Max's brand, editorial standards, and audience expectations, maintaining oversight of quality and compliance.
• Build strong relationships across the Nordic documentary community and partner with internal teams (Production, Legal, Finance, PR, Marketing, and Operations) to support effective delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive background in documentary development and production, ideally within a streamer or broadcaster environment, with a strong delivery track record.
• Strong editorial judgement with a deep understanding of documentary storytelling and narrative structure from concept through to final output.
• Passion for impactful unscripted storytelling, with a consistent focus on editorial integrity, factual accuracy, and creative quality.
• Knowledge of the Nordic documentary landscape and talent base, with exposure to multi-market or international collaboration.
• Fluency in English and at least one Nordic language.
