Your New Role:
The Director, News Desk Producing is a senior editorial leader responsible for setting the creative and editorial vision for CNN's core news video storytelling across all platforms.
This role leads teams producing daily, long-form, and breaking news video for next-generation products, special programming, and live coverage, maintaining the highest standards of editorial and creative execution.
The Director brings strong news judgment, creativity, and people-leadership skills, making high-stakes editorial decisions while collaborating across a matrixed global newsroom, including teams in Buenos Aires, Mexico, and Atlanta.
As a new role within an integrated newsroom, this position will help establish new workflows and partnerships and will report to the VP, News, based in Atlanta.
Your Role Accountabilities:
- Collaborates and communicates closely with global teams across the organization.
- Sets and stewards editorial and creative vision for high-impact video initiatives across all platforms.
- Oversees the development and execution of new formats, series, and initiatives aligned with audience strategy and brand priorities
- Leads a team, ensuring clarity of editorial voice, creative ambition, and team alignment.
- Oversight of interface with assigned teams in the field. Will oversee the production and post-production of content, with a high level of editorial acumen.
- Owns cross-functional collaboration with Programming, Product, Audience Development, and Design to ensure video performs at scale.
- Elevates team's editorial standards, actively develops creative talent and ensures that performance feedback loops and learnings inform future development.
- Identify and prioritize assignments for the News Video team, according to CNN's multiplatform needs of the moment.
- Expert-level knowledge of standards, practices and legal issues governing the news use of video and audio elements, and ability to work in collaboration with CNN teams that oversee these.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and competitive landscape to inform decision-making and strategy.
- Continuously evaluate and improve processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience:
- 10 or more years of editorial and digital news environment experience.
- 3 or more years of editorial experience working experience across the media industry, preferably within a newsroom or breaking news environment.
- College degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience in direct people management responsibilities and leading an editorial team. A strong communicator and interpersonal skills. Experience working with global teams is a plus.
- Strong editorial vision and drive and with proven expertise and knowledge of the global news agenda. A track record for creativity and innovation and the production of distinctive multi-platform content in coordination with other departments/teams.
- Demonstrated point of view of editorial vision and audience instinct.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking & ability to execute on strategy. Proven ability to innovate in visual storytelling and format development. Demonstrated ability to manage interdependent, matrixed stakeholder relationships.
- Data fluency and performance-driven editorial planning. Interprets platform-native metrics, evaluates format impact on distribution, bridges creative strategy and technical distribution expertise.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Ability to juggle various priorities and execute against tight deadlines.
- Experience with budgets and converting strategic goals from conception to implementation.
- Must be agile and adaptable in a fast paced, rapidly changing and exciting news environment with a real desire to make an impact and make CNN innovative and distinctive.
- Frequent travel to Mexico required.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $126,490.00 - $234,910.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
