Job Description

For Visa to deliver on the vision of the best way to pay and be paid for everyone, everywhere, the Operations & Infrastructure (O&I) group must provide best-in-class infrastructure services that are secure, scalable, continuously available, and run on software-defined infrastructures. The O&I group offers an exciting opportunity to work on latest technologies where the industry is going through major innovations such as cloud computing. As part of O&I, the PaaS Middleware Engineering team provides comprehensive design, build, and support services for web and middle-tier platforms.

The selected candidate will join the PaaS Middleware Engineering team, working alongside other engineers to design, build, support (L3), and enhance internal and external middleware services built on various Middleware and Integration platforms.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Middleware Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with middleware technologies, specifically Hazelcast, Qlik-Striim, Flink and Temporal. The Middleware Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and supporting middleware solutions that enable seamless integration and high performance of our business-critical applications.

• Design and Development:
  • Design and develop middleware solutions using Hazelcast, Qlik, Flink, Temporal, and Striim to meet the business requirements.
  • Collaborate with application developers, architects, and other stakeholders to design scalable and efficient middleware architectures.
• Implementation and Integration:
  • Implement and integrate middleware components to ensure seamless data flow and communication between different systems and applications.
  • Configure and fine-tune middleware platforms for optimal performance and reliability.
• Support and Maintenance:
  • Provide Level 3 support for middleware platforms, addressing complex issues and ensuring high availability and stability of the systems.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, including software updates, patches, and performance tuning.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
2 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 1 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Middleware Engineer or in a similar role.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Demonstrated experience using GenAI tools for software development and coding.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI-CD pipelines.
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with Hazelcast-Redis, Flink-Spark, Temporal, and Qlik-Striim.
Good understanding of distributed systems, data integration, and stream processing
Understanding of Kerberos and SSL-based Security concepts & implementation and familiar with Opensource mentoring products (Prometheus, Grafana) with a good knowledge of OS (RHEL-Centos)
Should be able to participate in the implementation and support (L3) of the Middleware technology products and work well within a globally distributed team in a high-performance organization.
Passion about cutting edge Opensource technology and staying current with industry trends
