The Opportunity: 

We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.   

The Work itself:

• Lead engineering delivery across multiple platforms and features, including API Gateway, API Onboarding, MCP Gateway, and related systems.
• Design and guide development of scalable, secure, reusable, and high-quality solutions serving global users and diverse customers.
• Drive innovation across APIs, platforms, and full-stack applications, while leveraging modern technologies and AI-assisted engineering tools.
• Collaborate across product, engineering, test, and DevOps teams to deliver new capabilities, improve quality, and mentor talent across the organization.

Essential Functions / Requirements for the Position:

• Manage multiple engineering initiatives and feature tracks, partnering with stakeholders to gather, refine, prioritize, and deliver requirements end-to-end.
• Provide strong architecture and design leadership, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, well-integrated, and aligned with engineering best practices.
• Lead teams building backend services, APIs, and full-stack applications, with the ability to balance speed, quality, security, and reusability.
• Bring hands-on understanding of modern software development and coding agents/tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Codex, with understanding of MCP and Agent-to-Agent communication protocols being desirable.
• Work effectively across Product, Test, DevOps, and Agile/Scrum teams, while driving technical clarity, execution excellence, and strong documentation practices.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 8+ years of software engineering experience, with several years in engineering management / people leadership.
• Proven experience leading teams delivering scalable APIs, platforms, and full-stack applications. Strong understanding of system architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, scalability, and security.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools/agents such as Claude Code, Copilot-Codex. Strong cross-functional leadership skills with experience partnering across Product, Test, DevOps, and Agile/Scrum teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and execution skills.

• Solid foundation in software development, APIs, scalable services, and modern web application architecture.
