Job Description

Visa is seeking a senior strategic finance leader to join the Value‑Added Services (VAS) Central Finance team. As a Senior Director within Central Finance, this role will partner closely with VAS executive leadership, Product, Technology, and Operations to shape capital allocation strategy, evaluate investments, and deliver rigorous financial insights that support enterprise‑level decision making and long-term value creation. The position requires strong influence and stakeholder management skills, operating across a highly matrixed environment. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in strategic finance, investment analysis, and business partnering, with a proven ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Advice and Executive Partnerships:

  • Serve as a trusted strategic finance partner to VAS leadership, providing rigorous financial insights to inform long‑term strategy and enterprise‑level decision making
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of VAS strategies, priorities, and performance drivers across products, regions, and functions
  • Deliver forward‑looking analysis and strategic perspectives that connect financial outcomes to business objectives
  • Align financial frameworks, analyses, and priorities to broader VAS and Visa‑wide initiatives
  • Lead performance diagnostics, including budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting, with a focus on insight generation rather than reporting output
  • Build strong, credibility‑based relationships across Finance, Product, Technology, and Operations to enable effective cross‑functional partnership

Financial Planning, Investment & Performance Management:

  • Lead preparation and coordination of the annual operating plan, forecasts, and outlooks, driving disciplined analysis across a globally matrixed organization
  • Evaluate business performance, investment outcomes, and resource allocation decisions, including post‑investment performance tracking, synthesizing key findings for senior leadership audiences
  • Provide timely, accurate, and decision-relevant financial information to enable effective management action
  • Identify key business and financial drivers, assess risks and opportunities, and recommend actions to improve performance and return on investment
  • Establish and continuously improve efficient, scalable processes for monthly and quarterly performance reporting and executive reviews

Strategic Initiatives & Project Leadership:

  • Lead high‑impact, cross‑functional initiatives related to capital allocation, investment governance, product profitability, and strategic priorities
  • Provide decision support to senior finance and business leaders on investment proposals, business cases, and strategic initiatives
  • Drive thought leadership on finance processes, frameworks, and analytical standards to improve efficiency, consistency, and decision quality
  • Partner with Financial Systems and analytics teams to enhance, automate, and scale resource, investment, and cost‑based analysis capabilities

Business Engagement & Decision Enablement:

  • Embed finance into the business by actively engaging with Product, Technology, and Operations teams to understand evolving strategies and operating models
  • Deliver tailored, executive‑ready analysis, presentations, and dialogue aligned to the needs of different stakeholders
  • Provide timely, meaningful perspectives on business performance, investment trade‑offs, and resource allocation decisions
  • Facilitate informed discussions around budgets, spend, and investment prioritization to reinforce ROI discipline
  • Develop and maintain a robust set of financial tools, frameworks, and insights to support management decision making

Talent Development & Finance Leadership:

  • Act as a mentor, coach, and thought partner to finance colleagues across the VAS Central Finance team, supporting professional development and analytical rigor
  • Influence and collaborate with finance partners across the organization to promote best practices, consistency, and high standards of financial analysis
  • Contribute to the development of a strong finance community by sharing expertise, frameworks, and insights across teams

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated success operating in a well-disciplined, highly matrixed organization, with a strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority
  • Deep expertise in strategic finance, including capital allocation, investment evaluation and prioritization, ROI analysis, and business case development in a complex, multi-product environment
  • Extensive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (or similar), with a strong understanding of financial accounting, management reporting, and performance management frameworks
  • Proven ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear, compelling insights and recommendations for executive and C‑suite audiences
  • Highly analytical, with advanced experience leveraging financial and operating systems to drive scalable insights, governance, and decision support
  • Strategic, proactive thinker with strong project management skills and the ability to lead multiple workstreams in parallel across ambiguous problem spaces
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills and sound judgment, with the ability to make high‑quality decisions with limited guidance in fast‑paced, evolving environments
  • Strong executive presence with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver concise, executive-ready materials and presentations
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and diplomatic leadership style, with a demonstrated ability to partner effectively across Finance, Product, Technology, and Operations
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and control, particularly in investment governance and executive-level reporting
  • Experience with product economics, pricing, or portfolio profitability analysis within a technology, payments, or platform-based business
  • High energy, intellectual curiosity, and resilience, with a strong stakeholder‑focused mindset

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 210,900.00 to 369,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
