Job Description
Pismo seeks an accomplished Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead Pismo's product solutions within Visa Acceptance Solutions. This role oversees a cross-functional engineering team responsible for end-to-end product delivery, spanning app frontends to cloud and hybrid cloud backends. The Senior Director acts as a servant leader, driving team performance, fostering growth, and ensuring the scalable evolution of the Acceptance Devices offering.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leadership & Strategy: Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for highly scalable, distributed systems. Ensure solutions align with Visa’s business objectives and meet standards for quality, uptime, usability, scalability, reliability, and security. Serve as an expert in EMV and in-person payments, mentoring teams on payment technologies.
- Project Management: Lead projects from inception to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Oversee resource allocation, platform budget planning, and support client engagements to align with product roadmaps.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business, product management, and security architecture, to deliver cohesive solutions. Act as a liaison between technical teams and leadership, clearly communicating strategies and progress.
- Efficiency & Innovation: Enhance developer and resource efficiency by leveraging Generative AI and innovative technologies. Integrate best practices and emerging methodologies into engineering processes.
- Mentorship & Development: Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team. Mentor and empower team members, promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and ensure accountability and ownership of deliverables.

Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Proven leadership in backend and frontend development for scalable systems, with hands-on expertise in React, Java, Swift, and Kotlin
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills in cloud and hybrid cloud strategies
- Commitment to clean code principles and proficiency in TDD/BDD methodologies
- Experience leveraging Generative AI to improve development processes
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with senior leadership
- Deep expertise in the payments domain (EMV, 3DS, Identity, Biometrics) and familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements.
