Team Overview

Value Added Services (VAS) is one of three growth strategies for Visa globally, aimed at diversifying Visa’s revenue with products and solutions that differentiate its network and deliver valuable solutions across other networks.

All associated capabilities and services will report into the three functions in VAS – Acceptance Sales, Solution Sales and Technical Enablement. These functions together are accountable for both sales and end-to-end technical enablement of VAS products towards all types of clients such as banks, financial institutions, platformers, merchants, wallet providers, etc. The team coordinates across various business functions in Japan such as Client Relationship Management and Client Services, as well as our global offices, to support the business growth of our clients.

 

What a Solutions Manager does at Visa:
Reporting to a Director in Value-Added Services, the Solutions Manager role will be responsible for consulting clients on the technical architecture, value proposition and integration of our Value-Added Services products to clients. The Solutions Manager will work closely with our Client Relationship Management team, VAS Sales roles, Client Services and Asia Pacific Market Support Center in Singapore to leverage whole Visa technical expertise into client interactions and sales meetings.

The role requires you to lead consultation on client challenges, develop and refine new solution offerings, migration plans, and work with internal and external stakeholders to provide our clients an optimal integration experience with Visa Acceptance Solutions by demonstrating to our clients how our solutions can be integrated into their existing infrastructure and business processes while addressing any technical concerns.

Candidates should demonstrate skills in Sales Engineering, project management, consulting, and presentation/training in complex IT environments. The candidate should be familiar with SaaS solutions and/or the card payments industry. Although the role will not be directly responsible for signing new deals, the client-facing nature of the job will require a sales mindset and ability to explain how our solutions solve client problems and deliver value to the client. The right candidate will have passion for technology, project management excellence, customer advocacy, solving client problems, and will see this role as contributing to the strategic evolution of overall payment eco-system in Japan.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead client consultations to design, tailor, and refine Visa solutions to meet client business needs
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on Visa solutions for both external clients and internal stakeholders
  • Manage communication, expectations, and risk with senior stakeholders across Visa and client organizations
  • Maintain a strong understanding of both Visa and client business strategies, aligning solutions to drive mutual growth
  • Design and deliver training for customers, partners, and internal teams on Visa solutions and capabilities
  • Create, maintain, and enhance technical documentation, including solution architecture and design materials
  • Continuously build deep expertise in Visa solutions through close collaboration with global teams, acting as the trusted technical point of contact for clients in the Japan market

Qualifications

Key Competencies

  • Minimum 8+ years IT consulting, project management, systems integration, sales engineering, presales and/or business development experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal skills
  • Excellent literacy in system specifications, system architecture and SaaS solutions, with at least general understanding of how programming languages (e.g. Java, Web Services, C/C++, etc.), operating systems (e.g. Unix, Linux, Windows) and commercial software work
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English
  • Ability to influence and lead diverse set of globally-based internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of payment processing infrastructure, especially acceptance-related technologies (such as merchant store front, shopping cart technologies, fraud prevention, etc.) is a plus
  • Certification or equivalent in the IT project management field is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Technical consulting capability with digital savvy, sales and client-first mindset
  • Problem solving approach – wants to understand client pain points and how to best solve them with Visa technology
  • Stay current and up-to-date with latest innovation, digital trends, research, skills and education
  • Make quick, timely decisions in the face of limited, ambiguous information
  • Determine success criteria and key performance indicators for achieving results and tracking progress against such criteria
  • Challenge status quo and champion better ways of delivering solutions
  • Flexibility to cater to internal and external changes
