Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are looking for versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex technical challenges at global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional engineering team supporting and building highly reliable, scalable software systems that power Visa’s global payments network.
You will have opportunities to work close to large-scale distributed systems, platform services, and operational workflows while developing strong software engineering fundamentals and learning how systems behave in real-world production environments.
Teams within Visa’s Operations and Infrastructure organization focus on building and supporting the platforms, services, and engineering solutions that keep Visa systems highly available, secure, and performing at global scale.
The Work itself:
- Design and develop software systems that help power Visa’s global payments network, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, operations partners, and product teams to solve real-world technical and system-level challenges
- Contribute high-quality code to critical services and platforms that operate at massive global scale and support 24/7 availability
- Participate in designing, building, testing, and improving software solutions that enhance system stability, performance, and operational efficiency
- Actively contribute to agile teams by learning best practices in software development, system design, and production readiness
- Grow as an engineer through mentorship, hands-on learning, and exposure to large-scale distributed systems and infrastructure-focused engineering work

Essential Functions:
- Supports relationship with product owners to gather and refine requirements for one product task, adding and taking into account existing tools and solutions within a product.
- Begins to develop and design architect solutions, considering integrations with other solutions.
- Provides relevant knowledge on the development of user documentation of solutions and follows standard processes in user documentation.
- Plays a minor role in the development and delivery of new features within a product.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience
Strong willingness and ability to learn new technologies, especially in automation, security, and AI/ML.
Basic programming skills in at least one language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
Understanding of software development principles and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Exposure to security concepts or coursework is a plus (e.g., OWASP, vulnerability scanning).
Familiarity with automation tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) is a plus, but not required.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented.
Nice to Have (but not required):
Coursework or projects involving AI/ML or data science.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Participation in hackathons, coding competitions, or relevant open-source projects.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 88,000 to 136,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
