Job Description

The Senior Manager, Product & Strategic Risk Initiatives will play a critical role in driving enterprise-wide risk management strategies across Visa’s Commercial and Money Movement Solutions organization. This position combines product risk oversight with strategic risk initiatives, ensuring robust risk frameworks are embedded into product development and global expansion efforts. The role requires a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, regulatory compliance, and risk analytics, as well as the ability to lead change management and influence decision-making in a complex, matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Management Framework
    • Establish and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework across Visa’s commercial product portfolio.
    • Act as the First Line of Defense for identifying and managing risks in new business initiatives, third-party engagements, and internal processes.
  • Strategic Risk Initiatives
    • Drive global risk remediation programs and change management efforts to support business enablement and market expansion.
    • Oversee licensing and regulatory compliance obligations related to acquisitions and new product launches.
  • Risk Domains
    • Advise on third-party risk, credit settlement risk, fraud prevention, operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and model risk governance.
  • Data Insights & Analytics
    • Monitor risk trends using data-driven insights and analytics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaboration & Governance
    • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Cybersecurity) to ensure cohesive risk strategies.
    • Influence governance and oversight processes to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
    • Establish a monitoring program to ensure ongoing adherence to controls and risk mitigation processes.
  • Innovation & Process Improvement

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of experience in product risk management, product oversight, or strategic planning within the payments or financial services industry.

  • Deep understanding of B2B payments, regulatory environments, financial product and process risk frameworks, and competitive landscape.

  • Demonstrated experience in risk disciplines (credit, operational, fraud, compliance).

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven ability to lead and influence across global, matrixed organizations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to articulate complex risk concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Agile methodologies preferred.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 143,700.00 to 230,200.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
