Job Description
Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa's clients, including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, brand management, marketing, operations and macroeconomics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.
The VCA team within Japan provides a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients in Japan, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management and digital strategy.
Position Summary:
We are currently looking for a Senior Director to build and lead a large-scale team of payment industry professionals in delivery of strategic consulting and implementation services to one of Visa Japan’s largest and most strategic clients. Based in Tokyo and reporting directly to the Japan Head of Visa Consulting and Analytics, the Senior Director will oversee all aspects of team management and service delivery.

What a Senior Director, VCA Dedicated Team Lead does at Visa:
Responsible for sales and delivery of the consulting services, from data analytics to strategic planning and implementation of recommendations embedded alongside client teams. The Team Lead will be the main point of contact with the client’s senior stakeholders and will own the P&L for this business line. Specific responsibilities will include:
Aligning with client on scope of work across multiple workstreams, such as:
- Advisory on business strategy, data utilization, portfolio optimization, digital strategy, and risk management, across the client’s issuing and acquiring business lines
- Support in implementing recommendations from advisory engagements
- Support in running the cards and payments businesses from a technical and operational perspective
- Support in designing and launching new products and services
- Support in running the analytics function with embedded data science support
- Execute marketing campaigns on behalf of the client
- Execute risk management on behalf of the client
- Implement operational changes across systems and processes
- Run program management office to deliver large scale payment technology projects
- Provide any other embedded resource support, as per client expectations
- Building, training, and retaining a large-scale high performing the team through a combination of hiring and outsourcing, and dynamically managing the team to evolve along with client requirements
- Drafting job descriptions based on client requirements and agreed scope of work
- Interviewing and selecting candidates
- Onboarding and training new hires and contractors
- Contracting with outsourcing partners
- Managing and overseeing project delivery for all engagements, ensuring a high level of service quality and client satisfaction, and dealing with any performance or quality issues that arise
- Achieving the VCA revenue target while keeping costs within the approved budget.
- Driving business impact through projects in order to drive core business impact and achieve the overall account revenue targets

Qualifications
What you will need:
With minimum 15 years’ experience having already accumulated a variety of experience, you will combine a strong understanding of the payments industry with extensive consulting and implementation experience. You will be client driven, comfortable managing a project end to end and relish the opportunity to develop new solutions and capabilities that will meet our client’s needs.
Specific skills and experience you will bring are:
- Experience and a track record of high performance in strategy consulting or corporate strategy
- Experience of handling senior client stakeholders in banks or card companies, and in functions like product, sales, marketing, acquiring, data strategy and risk
- Strong team leadership skills with a collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization
- Ability to lead and inspire team members to achieve high levels of performance
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in managing a P&L
- Self-motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to progress multiple priorities concurrently
- An entrepreneurial mind-set to identify and develop new business opportunities
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
- Detail oriented, ensuring the highest level of quality/rigor in client deliverables
- Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and written capabilities
- Fluent Japanese and at least business level English proficiency
What will also help:
Relevant depth of experience in digital sales/marketing, campaign management & delivery, portfolio optimization, or customer lifecycle management, particularly in a payments company or financial institution
Experience in project and program management in financial services, preferably in a bank or card company
