Job Description
What a Senior Director, Business Development does at Visa:
- Act as a key member of the Visa Account Executive team while also serving as the innovation consultant to issuers senior management, providing ongoing strategic market insights,
- overviews of Visa product development, strategic partnerships and new and emerging growth initiatives.
- Develop and execute customized account plans and manage joint innovation "roadmaps" to increase engagement, revenue and market share with the client.
- Identify strategic innovation and development opportunities through a strong understanding of the customer's business including payment strategies across all product platforms (credit, debit, commercial, etc.)
- Influence the client's vision for the future of electronic payments, consistent with Visa's strategies.
- Implement these strategic opportunities/products/services through excellent project management working with internal and client teams.
- Proactively identify and solve complex problems that impact the management, relationship and direction of the business.
- Expand relationships through the selling and implementation of Visa products and services
- Continuously review client strategies and market landscapes to recommend, develop, and implement new & creative approaches that ensures that client and Visa business objectives are met.
- Work with cross-functional teams (internal / external) that include representation from Innovation, Strategic Partnerships, Product, Operations, Market Research and Technology.
- Coordinate regular joint executive meetings to review innovation strategies, technologies and strategic partnership opportunities to continuously build the joint development "roadmap".
- Actively participate and lead various ad-hoc internal projects as assigned.
- Prepare proposals and negotiate contractual relationships.

Qualifications
- Min 12 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 10 years of relevant work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or 5 years relevant work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
What you will need:
- 12+ years of proven experience in business development, sales, or relationship management within payments, financial services, or banking.
- Strong track record of delivering revenue growth and managing strategic client relationships.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing teams in a matrixed organization.
- Ability to navigate complex environments, influence senior stakeholders, and lead change.
- Deep understanding of South Africa's payments landscape, regulatory environment, and emerging trends.
