Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused People Solutions Analyst to join our Global People Services GPS team in Japan. As a key member of the team you will be the first point of contact for employees and managers on all HR operational matters. This role requires a strong HR Generalist background to effectively navigate a wide range of employee queries coupled with deep expertise in Japans local labor laws and regulations to ensure full compliance and provide accurate guidance.
You will be responsible for managing inquiries through ServiceNow and ensuring the accuracy of employee data in Workday. You will be a subject matter expert on our operational processes contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
This role reports to the Director People Solutions Bangalore.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Support and HR Operations Execution - 75%
Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers on common inquiries related to programs processes benefits payroll local policies and compliance matters
- Provide expert guidance to employees and managers on the application of Japanese labor laws company policies and HR best practices
- Intake and triage queries using the case management tool ServiceNow ensuring timely and accurate updates to employee and organizational data in the global HRIS Workday
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Japan-specific time and attendance policies guiding employees and managers on complex rules such as Overtime Night Work Substitute Workdays and Statutory Holidays
- Manage complex local processes that require manual intervention such as tracking hourly Paid Time Off PTO requests and ensuring they are correctly logged
- Support employees with questions related to local benefits such as the Flex Benefit program and its Credit Point system
- Match employee questions with relevant knowledge and resources review and update policy-procedure documents eg How-to Guides FAQs posted on the Ask People portal to enable employee self-service
- Support annual People HR events and programs eg Annual Review Benefits Open Enrolment and new hire onboarding activities
- Accountable for meeting day-to-day performance metrics and ensuring a positive employee experience
COE Partnership and Program Execution - 15%
Collaborate with COE partners Benefits Mobility Payroll Equity HR Compliance etc to support the local execution of global programs and optimize processes
- Handle local execution tasks such as document preparation and coordination with local Japanese authorities banks and external vendors
- Act as a point of contact to provide employee data for internal external auditors and regulators ensuring all activities are fully compliant with Japanese regulations
People Initiatives and Project Delivery - 10%
- Participate in GPS-led projects focused on improving operational efficiency process automation and enhancing the employee experience for the Japan market
- Support the continuous improvement of HR systems and tools by providing user feedback and participating in testing cycles
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

- Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant HR/People Operations experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Japanese labor law, social insurance, and local HR compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with Workday and ServiceNow (or similar HRIS and case management systems).
- Proven experience as a first-line HR/People Operations contact, including intake, triage, and resolution of employee and manager queries.
- Fluency in Japanese and business proficiency in English are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of demonstrated HR work experience, with direct involvement in HR Shared Services or operations roles.
- Broad experience as an HR Generalist or in a role with similar breadth, covering multiple facets of the employee lifecycle from onboarding to exit.
- Deep expertise in Japanese labor law and compliance, with proven experience applying this knowledge in an operational and advisory capacity.
- Experience documenting and improving HR operational processes, including step-by-step procedures and self-service knowledge bases.
- A proactive and collaborative team player with a customer-focused mindset and commitment to a positive employee experience.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
