Job Description
The Financial Crime Associate sits within the wider 2nd line Financial Crime function under the Group Head of Financial Crime. The role supports financial crime oversight, investigations, escalations, advisory activity and control enhancement across Currencycloud, helping to ensure financial crime risks are identified, assessed, managed and escalated appropriately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review clients' policies and procedures to identify gaps in their financial crime frameworks against anti-money laundering (AML) requirements and other relevant regulations and policies.
- Conducting in-depth assessment of customers activities by reviewing data, financial transactions, and other relevant information.
- Analyze complex data to identify patterns and trends linked to suspicious activity.
- Identify emerging and ongoing risks in client activity and recommend controls to mitigate them.
- Prepare client review summaries and present them to management in a clear and concise manner, including recommendations on controls to address findings.
- Work closely with other stakeholders to ensure that client reviews and control implementations are completed within agreed timelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client review logs.
- Review internal suspicious activity reports (iSARs) and provide management with clear, concise recommendations based on the findings.
- Report relevant cases to financial crime units when recommended by management.
- Respond to law enforcement agency requests by preparing responses and gathering relevant supporting documentation within required deadlines.
- Support ad-hoc investigations as required
- Support management with reviewing and maintaining the team's procedural guidance.
- Recommend improvements to management on processes and procedures.
- Stay informed about emerging financial crime trends and regulatory changes through relevant training.
- Carry out additional tasks and projects as requested by management.
We are currently operating a hybrid working policy, with the expectation being 3 days per week in the Warsaw office.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Demonstrable Compliance experience, ideally in transaction monitoring, onboarding, or KYC within a bank or other financial institution.
- Knowledge of UK and European financial crime regulations, including: AML, fraud, KYC/KYB, due diligence, sanctions, and broader financial services requirements.
Skills
- Excellent written English, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to varied audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the confidence to think independently and creatively.
- Highly analytical and detail-focused, with a forensic and persistent approach.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks based on impact and scale.
