About the Team
The Japan Finance Business Partner team supports one of the major markets in Visa Asia Pacific with over 200 staff in the country. 
 

What a Finance Director does at Visa
The Finance Director reports to the Head of Finance, Japan Korea Mongolia Cluster and will serve as a leader of the Japan Finance Business Partner team, responsible for the management and development of team members. The role will lead the analysis of the financial outcomes, including revenues, client incentives and operating expenses of the market, provide consultative financial advice to business stakeholders to achieve targets, interface with Visa’s broader AP Finance team to jointly deliver a best-in-class finance support to the country’s sales and functional teams. The candidate is expected to be a self-motivated, highly collaborative team player possessing a positive and hands-on attitude, with a keen interest to learn about the business and contribute to its growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Consolidate and interrogate multi-year plans in partnership with business to achieve long-term corporate objectives, with clarity on the critical assumptions as well as the investments required to achieve the plan
  • Partner with the business to prepare and submit annual operating plan, with thoughtful consideration of quarterization and dependencies to achieve the plan, and key opportunities and risks to the plan
  • Develop and prepare relevant metrics/management reports to communicate financial results to country management
  • Access Visa’s operational and financial databases to analyze revenue drivers, client incentives and operating expenses, identify key trends and prescribe any relevant follow-up action
  • Lead and coordinate volume projections from stakeholders including Japan Sales, Product and Merchant Sales teams to support the development of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and multi-year plans for revenues and incentives
  • Evaluate and report on the financial performance of incentive deals and reflect key changes in the ongoing financial forecast
  • Track value-in-kind incentives from client deals and drive recognition of related revenues
  • Work closely with country functional leads to manage operating expense budgets including ongoing tracking and forecasting, as well as due diligence on the proposed expense initiatives
  • Support the development of the financial business case for incentive deals and growth initiatives – work with business teams to interrogate the accuracy and reasonableness of the financial models and planning assumptions, as well as evaluating the overall financial risk and returns of these proposals prior to management approval
  • Support the contract execution of the approved deals / initiatives and track their subsequent performance

Qualifications

What you will need

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, mathematics, economics, statistics or related quantitative field. MBA is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of relevant financial analysis or equivalent experience in FP&A preferably with an MNC with regional operations.
  • People management experience with excellent coaching skills with passion to develop people.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial intuition required. Understanding of Visa’s business is preferred.
  • Outstanding analytical and numerate skills – ability to define the business problem and articulate key issues and options to resolve problem
  • Ability to cultivate effective relationship with a diverse team and communicate effectively across various functions and with different levels of management
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint: hands-on experience on Hyperion/TM1 would be added advantage
  • Proven expertise in modelling techniques and managing large data sets
  • Must be detail-oriented with a keen aptitude to ensure accuracy and quality of output
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on multiple initiatives with tight timelines
  • Strong bias for action and ability to proactively identify the resolve issues
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively in English. Fluency in Japanese is preferred.

What will also help

  • Knowledge of Visa business/payment industry and business intelligence reporting systems
  • Experience in Oracle EPM
  • Hands-on experience in use of AI tools in FP&A fields, such as forecasting and automation
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI
