Job Description
The Transaction Screening function is responsible for real-time review and escalation of sanctions, watchlist and related screening alerts generated during payment processing. The function is a key component of the Visa Cross-Border Solutions financial crime control framework and directly supports compliant, timely and risk-based payment processing.
Role Purpose
As the Transaction Screening Manager, you will lead the Warsaw Real-Time Screening function and be accountable for operational performance, quality, people leadership, escalation management, governance reporting and continuous control improvement.
You will ensure the team delivers against SLA, productivity and quality expectations while maintaining strong sanctions risk discipline. The role requires a balance of operational leadership, financial crime expertise, stakeholder management and the ability to build capability in a scaling team.
Role summary
This role supports Visa Cross-Border Solutions by combining operational discipline, financial crime judgement, audit-ready documentation and clear escalation of risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Transaction Screening team in Warsaw.
- Own team performance across SLA, quality, productivity, queue health and escalation timeliness.
- Manage resource planning, shift coverage, capacity forecasting and operational prioritisation.
- Act as an escalation point for complex sanctions, watchlist or urgent operational matters.
- Ensure procedures, controls and governance expectations are understood and followed by the team.
- Lead quality assurance activity, calibration, thematic review and remediation planning.
- Use management information to identify trends, root causes, control gaps and operational risks.
- Develop Associates and Analysts through coaching, objective setting, feedback and performance management.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and capability build for the Warsaw operating model.
- Partner with Compliance leadership, MLRO teams, Product, Technology, Operations and Customer teams to resolve issues and improve controls.
- Prepare clear performance updates for senior stakeholders, highlighting achievements, issues, risks and recommended actions.
- Support audit, regulatory, client and governance requests relating to screening operations.
- Drive continuous improvement across people, process, systems, quality and customer outcomes.
- Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture aligned to Visa leadership principles.
We are currently operating a hybrid working policy, with the expectation being 3 days per week in the Warsaw office.
Qualifications
Essential Experience and Skills:
- Leadership experience within Financial Crime Compliance, sanctions screening, AML operations, payment operations or a related regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of sanctions screening operations, escalation management and quality governance.
- Proven ability to manage teams against SLA, productivity and quality expectations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and senior reporting skills.
- Strong analytical capability with experience using MI to identify risks, trends and improvement actions.
- Experience managing a team by coaching, developing and managing performance in an operational environment.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- ACAMS, ICA, sanctions or equivalent financial crime qualification.
- Experience in cross-border payments, fintech, e-money, banking or global payments operations.
- Experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews, control remediation or operating model transformation.
- Experience working with Product, Technology or Compliance teams on screening system enhancements and false positive reduction.
